Inaccurate word

[edit]

"In Nepal, aside from Harijan and, most commonly, Dalit, terms such as Haris (among Muslims), Achhoot, outcastes and neech jati are used."

here, the term 'neech jati' is inaccurate it should be 'neechi jati' as 'neechi' can mean lower whereas 'neech' is like an insult. Anukaran C (talk) 07:33, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Picture or Photo

[edit]
Dalit is not a ethnicity of people your literally claiming brahmins are a ethnicity for including pictures. Wikipedian reader 1234567 (talk) 08:35, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dalit is not a ethnicity of people their should not be pictures like this even most Dalits are not dark skin, because of such thinks your encouraging low IQ Africans claiming other people (they wont claim their own history) these people dont understand their are dark skin people even among Arabs, Yemenis or many bedouin arabs also have dark skin even their are Southeast Asians with dark skin as well like Cambodians or Laos etc with mongoloid features I have been their and observed people their closely.
Only East Asians and Europeans have White skin lol.
Instead of adding pictures like that just include old black and white photos, or dont add pictures dalits are not black skin (dark skin) we also have to deal with such people thats why I am saying. Wikipedian reader 1234567 (talk) 05:56, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Their are not much pictures or photos of Dalits in the Wikimedia Commons, your insistence of adding photos (and telling me that I dont have 500 edits to remove my edit) when their are not many photos, does not make sense nor is their much Old Photos as I have said.
Also many dalits are not dark skin people from the subcontinent can come in any skin tone from dark to fair etc.
It is just like saying many Southeast Asians can look dark as this (just look at the link) while black Africans are saying they are black when they are just dark skin but with us only they are obsessed more when majority of Indians are not dark.

As per my knowledge, you are not supposed to discuss on such contentious topics per new rules on CT/SA, until you have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days! @Bishonen: please correct me if I am wrong! I have already posted the notice on the user talk page. Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 16:04, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes we have discussed already. You keep saying the same thing with out understand what the argument is anyway. Wikipedian reader 1234567 (talk) 17:20, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Do we need to include photo in the article?

[edit]

Dear fellow Wikipedians,

Do we need to include a photo of the two people in the article? Even though the photo owner has released it into the public domain and implied it can be freely published, I think a historical image would be better, as it is less likely to attract negative attention toward people who might look similar in real life. What are your opinions? 3Daxial2424 (talk) 13:43, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Past Tense

[edit]

Why does the introduction use the past tense? The article makes clear there are Dalits to this day. They did not disappear as the intro implies 118.149.90.41 (talk) 05:17, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear fellow Wikipedians,

Firstly, you haven’t mentioned the most important point….you should clearly note in brackets that the so called caste hierarchy originally began as an occupation based system. In ancient times, a person’s role was determined by their interests and abilities: Brahmins were not just priests but also teachers and intellectuals; Kshatriyas included warriors, rulers, and ministers; Vaishyas handled trade and agriculture; Shudras formed the labour class; and Dalits were service providers, comparable today to sanitation workers like those of sewage cleaners . It was only in later centuries that people from the higher groups distorted this system and turned it into a birth-based hierarchy, which eventually came to be known as the caste system. Thankyou.
