| WikiProject Scouting was featured in a WikiProject Report in the Signpost on 02 January 2008. |
| Article | Content, remarks |
|---|---|
| Scouting | Describes the movement of Scouting: history (founding, growth), activities one does in Scouting, organization, should cover both male & mixed sections (Scouts and Cubs) and female only (Girl Guides and Brownies), younger/older sections, international |
| Scout Movement | Redirect to Scouting |
| Scout (Scout Movement) | About the members, boys or girls aged 11-17 years, activities they do in Scouting, the Scout section, Troop/Patrol, Scout Law, Motto, Uniform. Not about history, not about the organization or movement. |
| Scout | Remains disambiguation page |
| Girl Guide and Girl Scout | About the members of Girl Guiding (Girl Scouting in the USA and some other countries) |
| Girl Guide, Girl Scout | Redirect to GG&GS (term used in a handful of countries with guiding organizations, including the United States) |
| Cub Scout, Brownie (Girl Guides) | About the groups for those in age ranges immediately below those in the flagship scouting age groups. |
| Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell | About the person Baden-Powell, and his personal history. Not about the Scout movement other than his input/influence. Lots of redirects here, btw. |
| Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, etc | General summary pages that have see also links to other Scouting pages. Use to lead users to more in depth articles. No longer disambiguation pages due to all the confusion of different naming conventions. All other plurals redirect to the singular per Wikipedia standard, not to Scouting or a separate organization oriented article |
| WOSM, WAGGGS | Articles about the current international organization. Not about the Scouting movement, history pertaining to the organization only. |
The newest Lord Baden-Powell

There is a discussion on the Talk:Girl Guides#Girl Guides or girl-only Scout organisations? about changing the purpose of the Girl Guides article to be specifically about Girl Guide organizations but not Girl Scout organizations that might be of interest to some here. Erp (talk) 02:02, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- I noticed that the description at the top for the purpose of the articles Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, etc. didn't exactly make sense: "General summary pages that have see also links to other Scouting pages. Used to avoid to lead users to more indepth articles, no longer disambiguation pages due to all the confusion of different naming conventions. All other plurals redirect to the singular per Wikipedia standard, not to Scouting or a separate organization oriented article"; the previous version was "Disambiguation pages due to all the confusion of different naming conventions. All other plurals redirect to the singular per Wikipedia standard, not to Scouting or a separate organization oriented article ". I edited it so it made some sense. I hunted down the revision (July 2007) where the last change took place (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Scouting&oldid=144658662) and the discussion related to it Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Scouting/Archive_2007#Girl_Guides_-_dab_or_stub?. However the discussion doesn't seem to fully support the change in text. In addition the Girl Guides article certainly isn't following either version. Thoughts? --Erp (talk) 10:20, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Proposed for deletion (PROD): World Citizenship Award
[edit]FYI, the article World Citizenship Award has been proposed for deletion (WP:PROD). The first sentences summarize the subject this way:
"The World Citizenship Award is an award of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts(WAGGGS). Launched in 1996, the award is given to people outside the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement who have contributed to a better world in at least one of the following areas - peace, environment, education, food and nutrition, health, and culture and heritage"
This article was rated in 2007 as being of top importance to WikiProject Scouting
The nominator wrote this summary of their concerns:
"For the life of me, I cannot find independent coverage of this award. Even the WAGGGS website doesn't mention it anymore! I find some trivial book mentions in the form of "so and so won X Y and Z awards", but no significant coverage of the award, its history, its creation, etc."
If you agree or disagree with deletion, there are instructions on the deletion notice for what to do.
