Sure they're allowed, WP:UCN we use common names not official names WP:OFFICIALNAME. If the retroactive title becomes the common name, its the one that is suppoed to be used per our own article naming guidelines. Ofcourse the problem is that the nominator is banned, so does the argument presented by the nominator represent the real-life situation? -- 65.93.183.181 (talk) 19:25, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

• Support some form of dab. Given that the original Kantara has been retroactively titled Chapter 2, and that the next film in the series is titled Chapter 1, Kantara (film) is inherently ambiguous. If the titles were in chronological numbering atleast, we could've made a case for retaining the title at Kantara (film) a la Guardians of the Galaxy (film). Kantara (2022 film) is an option, but I think there's a more natural dab in the retroactive title here. The result of the move request was: moved. There is a clear consensus that the 2022 film should not be titled Kantara: Chapter 2. Reliable sources and official releases consistently use Kantara or Kantara: A Legend, and per WP:NCFILM, retroactive titles are not permitted. Evidently, some editors noted filmmaker statements describing the film as "Part 2", this does not constitute an official renaming, nor is it reflected in common usage. The majority of participants supported the move, citing WP:COMMONNAME, WP:OFFICIAL, and WP:UCN. Opposing arguments were few, but not only that, they're not policy-based. Kantara: Chapter 2 → Kantara (2022 film) – The current title is confusing, as it can be interpreted as the 2025 film and moreover, it does not meet the WP:OFFICIAL guidelines, Article titles should be recognizable to readers, unambiguous, and consistent with usage in reliable English-language sources.. Instead of being recognisable, this title is often interpreted as the 2025 film, I was not able to find any source that states that the film's title has been changed to Kantara: Chapter 2 except Apple TV. Even if it was, retroactive titles are not allowed. Even external links have this title on the page and these links have either Kantara - A Legend or simply Kantara. In my opinion, this page should be moved to Kantara (2022 film) and Kantara (later retitled Kantara: Chapter 2) should be changed to Kantara: A Legend. The first film is known as Kantara or Kantara A Legend by the audience, The film in posters and onscreen, is titled Kantara: A Legend. retroactive titles are not allowed Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. these are some examples. Support: Just because the next movie is going to be a prequel, doesn't mean we should change the actual title of the movie, which still is Kantara (even Kantara: A legend is considerable). per nom, WP:OFFICIAL is clearly violated. Strong support: Any title change on Wikipedia should reflect a real-world change (official or as common usage), which has not happened in this case. A film's title does not retroactively change based on the sequel's title.
