Rankiteo is a SaaS-based third-party security risk management platform. It was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, United States.
History
[edit]Rankiteo was founded in 2021 by Jeremy Canale, an information security specialist, and Maochao Xu, professor and former Director of the Department of Mathematics at Illinois State University.[1]
In 2025, the company launched a platform providing automated third-party risk scoring and benchmarking to support organizations and insurers in evaluating cyber exposure and underwriting cyber insurance.[2]
Technology
[edit]The Rankiteo platform uses large-scale internet scanning to identify exposed assets, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations in real time.[citation needed] Its scoring system combines active probing with passive data collection from sources such as DNS, SSL/TLS, vulnerability databases, breach reports, and darknet monitoring. The results are aggregated into a cybersecurity score ranging from 0 to 1000.[citation needed]
