Northrop B-2 Spirit
[edit]Hi! A note on this edit. When adding information in the future can you please include citations to reliable sources? I looked at the reference that was included at the end of the paragraph, and I couldn't find much of the information you added. In particular, the "renamed the 'B-2 Division' in the early 1990s" could not have been sourced from a 1989 newspaper article. Thanks. Ed [talk] [OMT] 04:30, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- @The ed17 Thanks for reaching out to me on this. I actually tried to find a source for that, but came up empty with an initial search. I know it happened because I started working at the Pico Rivera site in August 1990 and the company changed the division name within the first few years I was there. I also know that's not enough to qualify as a source and have no problem with you backing out the edit.
- Offhand, would you have any suggestions about how I could try to find a source? I suspect there's a press release that was issued, but it was in the pre-Internet era so it's unlikely to be out there in an easily accessible format. Do you have any ideas? I won't redo the change without a solid source.
- Thanks again for reaching out.
KNHaw (talk) 05:08, 23 June 2025 (UTC)- Hello KNHaw—you should probably be aware of our policy on original research ("... material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published source exists"). I would strongly advise you take a quick read through at least the intro to that page.
- To find a source, I'd try The Wikipedia Library to search for archived newspaper articles that noted the change. That would be ideal to satisfy our preferences for secondary sources. If the information is important enough to be included (and the amount of secondary sources out there that haven't noted this change rather suggests it isn't!), the primary source/press release might be in Lockheed's company archives. I imagine that would involve a physical trip, assuming they'd even let you look at them in the first place. Ed [talk] [OMT] 19:09, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
