Your draft article, Draft:List of works on Mariah Carey
[edit]
Hello, Heartfox. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "List of works on Mariah Carey".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

New Zealand citation
[edit]Hi Heartfox, You are using the {{certification Table Entry}} incorrectly. If you want to use the |source=book option for New Zealand, then |id= needs to be the page number in Scapolo's book. Also, if you think the template provides incorrect sales amounts, please discuss this at Template talk:Certification Table Entry. You will find that the sales amounts were usually established after reaching consensus and using reliable sources, though we may always be wrong. If you need any help using the template, let me know and I'd be happy to help. --Muhandes (talk) 20:58, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- If you have access to the physical book like I have then you would know that it does not have page numbers and so I used "Mariah Carey" as a pseudo-page number as it is used as a heading in the book. Multi-platinum certifications were only awarded from 1999. "Platinum" albums before this time means shipments 15,000 and above. The book specifies what the "above" number is, yet you are reverting them because the template is inherently flawed. Heartfox (talk) 21:16, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Heartfox. I don't have access to the actual book and never have. However, when the {{cite Scapolo}} template was created, it was done so at the request of an editor who mentioned it includes page numbers. Are you referring to just the Mariah Carey page or the entire book? Perhaps you are using a different edition? If so, we may need to update the template accordingly. If we don't find another solution, the way you handled it might be acceptable; I don't have a better alternative. Assuming no better solution is found, please add a comment when you restore the edits so other editors are aware and don't revert it by mistake. Regarding the certified amounts, if I understand correctly, the book specifies the exact amount for each album. That's excellent. In this case, simply use the
|salesref=parameter to indicate this, so the pages don't appear on my cleanup list. This would mean the entire thing will look like:{{certification Table Entry|type=album|region=New Zealand|award=Platinum|source=book|salesamount=15,000|id=Mariah Carey<!--No page numbers-->|refname=Scapolo|salesref=<ref name=Scapolo/>}}. This should raise less alarms. Is it acceptable? Muhandes (talk) 06:55, 1 July 2024 (UTC) - Just some additional data. I found the original discussion from 2018. Perhaps MrLinkinPark333 or Harout72 would like to comment on the missing page numbers and on the solution you suggested. Also, I notice the template was used very little. --Muhandes (talk) 07:15, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- I don't have a physical copy of Scapolo. In that discussion, I mentioned @Richard3120: updated Wuthering Heights (song) with a page number from Scapolo .I'm not sure if it's the same version or if page numbers do exist in the book.. MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:46, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- As far as I am aware, Dean Scapolo has released two editions of his New Zealand Charts book, the first covering 1966 to 1996, and the updated version to 2006. The latter is in the British Library, and it most certainly has page numbers – I've noted many of them down for various song articles that I have worked on. Richard3120 (talk) 01:12, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Only the foreword area has page numbers. The actual hundreds of pages with the chart peaks doesn't have page numbers, at least with the 1966-2006 edition I am viewing. Heartfox (talk) 02:26, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Which is weird, because I have a load of page numbers for various artists that I copied down from the book. Richard3120 (talk) 14:52, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Questions about Newspapers.com access
[edit]Hello again. I hope you are doing well. Sorry for this random message, but I have been unable to access Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library. Have you had similar issues and do you have any further information about it in general?
When I log on the Wikipedia Library, Newspapers.com has a message that says it is temporarily unavailable. I get a "T322916" error with it. I have tried to post about it on the talk page, but frankly, that area is not really helpful and I did not get a response. I rely on Newspapers.com quite a bit so it is frustrating that access has seemingly been pulled (although things with accessing the site have been weird for a while now).
I think my main question is if you know any way to get access to Newspapers.com again or is it just a matter of waiting for things to hopefully get resolved? Apologies again for this, and I hope you are having a great end to your weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 19:05, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- You can disregard this message. I found a workaround mentioned here that works for me even though it is annoying. Aoba47 (talk) 19:07, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- Search form using the proxy occasionally works for me. But we still need to login to make clippings, and the login form continues to be inaccessible. Heartfox (talk) 19:25, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. I think I was just lucky the first time that I tried using the workaround method. I have tried it with other instances, and I am running into issues with it so it is not a great solution now that I look at it further. I did not think about clippings (as I was more so focused on just getting access at all), but that does makes sense now that you say it. Unfortunately, it seems like the only solution is to wait for the issue to hopefully be resolved and for the site to be accessible again. I needed a break anyway so it is probably for the best for me lol. Aoba47 (talk) 19:39, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

Chart-related question
[edit]Hello again. I hope that you are doing well. I have been working on the "I Got That" article, and I have a question about the Billboard charts. The song charted on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, but it appears that all information and data regarding this chart has been removed from the Billboard website.
I was debating on either looking through Google Books or the Internet Archive to find a source, but before I spent any time and energy on that, I wanted to ask you: Is this particular chart notable enough to even include in a Wikipedia article? If the information is not even available on Billboard anymore, I was uncertain. That or I am just really bad at navigating the Billboard website lol. Apologies for the random question and the long post. Aoba47 (talk) 03:25, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Aoba47: Here you go :) Billboard removed Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Songs from artist chart histories a few years ago, and they also removed many artist pages like Amil for no apparent reason, but luckily the page was archived. Heartfox (talk) 04:17, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! I was honestly not looking forward to digging through the Internet Archive so I greatly appreciate the link. I am glad that it was not only archived, but that the archived link is in good condition. These changes to Billboard and its websites have certainly been strange. It is a shame that they have been removing information as I would think preserving this kind of chart information would be a high priority for them. Thank goodness for the Internet Archive. Aoba47 (talk) 04:48, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
Sorry for bothering you again. I have a quick question about a separate matter with the same article. I have seen claims that Darren Grant and Jay-Z directed the song's music video, but I could only find a reliable source for Jay-Z. I could believe that Grant was involved, but I could not find a reliable source to support this. Should I still keep the part on Jay-Z as the director or would it be better to remove this if I am not fully certain about Grant's involvement? Aoba47 (talk) 18:04, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- I just wanted to follow-up to say that a reviewer for the peer review was able to locate a source for this so it should no longer be an issue. Aoba47 (talk) 14:49, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

[edit]On 10 December 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Vanishing (song), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that "Vanishing" is the first song that Mariah Carey produced by herself? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Vanishing (song). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Vanishing (song)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Request to mentor FAC for Greatest Hits (Mariah Carey album)

SINGLE?
[edit]Hello, Heartfox, I hope you're doing well. I'd appreciate some help with the single status of "Christmas Tree Farm" and its "Old Timey Version". The Cool New Music section says that the two versions were released to adult contemporary radio, but I'm a bit late to the party and I'm not sure if that section is reliable enough to indicate a single status. The original version was referred to as a single by Billbaord and Official Charts Company, but the Old Timey Version is more confusing. The two versions charted on the Adult Contemporary chart, does that confirm that they were released to adult contemporary radio? Medxvo (talk) 18:44, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Medxvo: It needs to have been on the Future Releases page to confirm a radio release. Heartfox (talk) 02:03, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks so much. I couldn't find a Future Releases archive that has any of the two versions, but I'll try to adjust this as much as possible. Medxvo (talk) 07:46, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Heartfox, I was wondering if you could tell me if email screenshots are considered sources for charted songs — even if they're coming from chart companies, because I noticed on several Paula Abdul songs there is archived email screenshots being used as sources such as on Forever Your Girl (song). [edit]Please explain to me how they are not component charts. The song charted on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs which measures airplay, streaming and sales data, the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay measures only airplay. The song charted on the Pop Airplay which measures the most popular songs of pop music being played on a panel of Top 40 radio stations, the Adult Pop Airplay ranks "the most popular adult top 40 as based on radio airplay. They're mathematically related per WP:CHARTMATH. Pillowdelight (talk) 14:58, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

- I've been editing like that for a while now, nobody has said anything until you did today — other than earlier this morning from an IP on a separate article. - The Hot 100, Bubbling Under, Sales, and Streaming main charts all measure all songs. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs measures performance of all R&B/Hip-Hop songs everywhere, whereas R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay only measures their performance on R&B/Hip-Hop radio stations. Because they measure different things they're not actually components. Same for Adult Pop Airplay - it only measures performance on adult pop airplay stations, and Pop Airplay only measures performance on pop radio stations. Heartfox (talk) 03:37, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- From what I’ve seen and what I’ve done myself for the longest time is if a song doesn’t chart on the Hot 100 you add the next best thing which would be "Bubbling Under" if noted due to its measurement of sales, streaming and airplay, If it charts on the separate charts (digital, radio, streaming) we remove them as it’s already being compiled through "Bubbling Under". Mind you, for the time I’ve been editing I’ve never once come across an editor adding a streaming chart for anything, including the genre ones - which I think goes against WP:SINGLEVENDOR? - correct me if I’m wrong. But I’m more than certain that if a song is charting on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart - which compiles everything - we don’t add in the airplay chart as it’s already being compiled through the "Songs" chart. But here in the next few days I plan to open a discussion and hear what everyone thinks. Pillowdelight (talk) 01:46, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
