Bot appears to have a hiccup

[edit]

Mike Christie. Bgsu98 (Talk) 14:22, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Restarted it; should run as usual in about fifteen minutes. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 14:26, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Opt out of messages?

[edit]

Is there a way to opt out of receiving messages from this bot? It's rather unnecessary to get talk page messages when I can already see changes on my watchlist. Flibirigit (talk) 16:33, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

At the moment there's no way to do that, but I can add an option to opt out. I'll look into it in the next few days. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:49, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Flibirigit, I've added this functionality and have included you in the opt-out list. If you ever change your mind, let me know and I'll remove you again. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 20:48, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, much appreciated. Flibirigit (talk) 20:55, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator information

[edit]

Hi @Mike Christie:. I hope you're doing well. Can you please look at crystalite listed GAN articles, the nominator info didn't added by the bot. I have checked it but didn't able to locate problem. So, I request you to look into it. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 02:06, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you're asking for -- that page isn't updated by ChristieBot. I think it's manually updated. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 02:09, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. I think i missed that. But tell me to add nom info automatically by bot, where and what should be improved? Fade258 (talk) 02:13, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm still not clear what you're asking. Can you paste here whatever error message you're seeing, and say what it is that you were trying to do or expecting to see? Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 10:07, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Mike Christie. Well, I didnot see any error messages but when I see here, as bot didnot add nominator name there. Please look into it. Fade258 (talk) 16:10, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see -- yes, that's definitely an error on the bot's part. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to fix that sort of error. It happens when the bot is in the middle of processing a nomination and the operating system decides to kill the bot because resources are running low. When that happens the bot can't complete its tasks and when it starts up again it doesn't know that it did not succeed in adding the nominator line, so it doesn't try again. Fortunately this is quite rare. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:25, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Bot can't deal with immensely long note field in GA nominee for Marcus Eli Ravage

[edit]

Mike Christie, there's a note of over a dozen lines recently added to the GA nominee template on Talk:Marcus Eli Ravage, which ChristieBot can't deal with, so it keeps trying to process it every time ChristieBot runs. Not sure what you want to do about it—maybe the bulk of the note can be extracted to the talk page of the article?—but it's going to try again and again until something's done. Thought you'd want to know. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:59, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm about to be out of commission for at least a day, and possibly longer, so I would suggest shortening the note for now. I can look into lengthening the note field but it wouldn't happen till some time next week at the earliest and probably not till later than that.
