Introduction

Hello, I'm Prefine, and I joined Wikipedia on January 1, 2025. I am a casual editor mainly interested in geography, infrastructure, transport, urban planning and modern history. Altogether, I am interested in the built environment and its development over time - such as suburbs, roads, shopping centres, schools. I usually edit articles related to these in the Australian context, but I may occasionally edit pertaining to other countries.

I've been a reader of Wikipedia for a long time, and often find myself falling into rabbit holes. I long abstained from creating an account because I thought Wikipedia was very comprehensive and self-sufficient, such that it was futile for me to try contributing. I eventually dismissed this attitude when I realised that the process of contributing itself can be a valuable learning experience and a way to stay engaged with my interests. I also embrace the aspect of posterity; it feels rewarding to contribute to a resource that can benefit and inform future generations. I already had foundational wiki knowledge upon joining Wikipedia, having edited on Wikia for ten years beforehand.

About me

I am a student at the University of Technology Sydney studying civil engineering. I was born in the south-west area of Sydney, Australia, and gained opportunity class placement followed by selective school admission during my school years. I'm a shy introvert and prefer to avoid conflict or attention. I like thinking about the past, often having nostalgic feelings for my childhood.
