About

[edit]

Placeholderer (n): One who placeholders.

Hello!

I hope to stick to a philosophy that my edits are placeholders for better edits from others in the future. If edits make Wikipedia marginally better, I'd say they're good edits.

Just like everyone else, I have biases. I do aim to learn and edit as impartially as I can. I think the five pillars are cool, and find working on Wikipedia to be a nice and accessible way to apply my interests, for a good cause, almost entirely on my own terms. You'll have to take my word for it that I'm not editing out of any malice or pursuit of some grand evil plan—if I were, I wouldn't say so >:)

Communication

[edit]

Contact me via ping, my talk page, or email. Normally I check my notifications pretty frequently, usually even if I'm not in an editing phase, but I also might disappear for some time without notice if I become unavailable for whatever reason.

I try my best to be civil. Please feel free to call me out if any concerns come up. Of course I'll weigh what I think are the merits of any feedback, but even if I say in the moment that you're crazy and I'm totally right I might realize later that you have a point. If ever you find I'm seriously bludgeoning a discussion, or otherwise badly screwing up, then you know what to do.

Areas of editing

[edit]

On Wikipedia my focus has generally been current events. As someone who spends a lot of time reading the news, much of my contribution here is relaying information that I come across anyways to articles. That said, I do try to be conscious about WP:NOTNEWS and WP:RECENTISM—it's frustrating to me when, for instance, articles that should cover a substantial length of time are bloated with excessive detail from one news cycle. Not to say that I'm never part of the problem.

I do reserve the right to wander wherever the inscrutable winds of motivation take me. In other words, I'm not subject to any topic bans—yet.

I should really get around to joining some WikiProjects. One day...

Looking forward to learning more about Wikipedia! Placeholderer (talk)
