UIDAI Helpline 1947
1947 is the national toll-free telephone number in India operated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for queries, support, and services related to the Aadhaar program.[1][2] It provides assistance in multiple Indian languages to help citizens with Aadhaar enrolment, updates, e-Aadhaar downloads, and grievance redressal.
History
[edit]The helpline 1947 was launched by UIDAI soon after the nationwide rollout of the Aadhaar program to provide centralized customer support.[3] Initially available only during business hours, it was later expanded to a 24×7 toll-free service accessible across all telecom operators.
Purpose

- Aadhaar Enrolment: Locating nearby enrolment centers, documentation guidance.
- Update/Correction: Address, phone number, and biometric update queries.
- Status Tracking: Enrolment and update status via SRN or URN.
- e-Aadhaar Download & Password Help.
- Complaint Redressal: Escalation of unresolved Aadhaar service issues.
- Lock/Unlock Biometrics: Information on UIDAI’s security features.
Operation
[edit]The helpline is managed by the Unique Identification Authority of India under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.[4]
Citizens can call 1947 from anywhere in India, and the service is available in English, Hindi, and several regional languages.[5]
The contact centre also provides SMS-based and IVR self-service options, along with live-agent support for complex cases.
