Travis Bowen (born August 4, 1989) is an American soccer coach and former player who played as a forward.[1][2][3]
College career
[edit]In 2012, Bowen enrolled in the Oxnard College soccer program.[4] In his freshman season, he finished second in the conference scoring charts with 17 goals.[5][6] He would also help the team win the Western State Conference title.[5] The Condors were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Orange Coast College, where he contributed the team's lone goal.[5] After the conclusion of the season, he was named the conference's player of the year.[7][6]
Club career
[edit]Early career
[edit]After a season with Ventura, he signed with league rivals Portland Timbers U23s.[8] The following season, he returned to his former club, Ventura County.[9][10] In his second season with Ventura County, he helped the club secure a playoff berth by winning their division.[11] He finished second in the club's scoring chart with 7 goals.[12] Bowen also participated in the 2012 U.S. Open Cup, where he contributed a goal against the USL Pro side Los Angeles Blues in the tournament's second round.[13] The Fusion was eliminated in the next round by MLS side Chivas USA.[14]
Professional
[edit]Bowen joined the professional ranks in 2013 by signing with expansion side Phoenix FC in the USL Pro.[15] After a season in Arizona, he signed with league rivals LA Galaxy II.[16] In his debut season with the Galaxy, he appeared in the 2014 U.S. Open Cup, where he recorded two goals against Cal FC in the second round.[16] He re-signed with the Galaxy for the 2015 season.[17][18]
Macedonia
[edit]In 2017, he played in the Macedonian First Football League with Akademija Pandev.[19] In the winter transfer market, he signed with league rivals Pelister.[20][21]
Spain
[edit]Following his stint in Macedonia, he ventured to the Spanish circuit to play with CD Almuñécar Academy.[22] Bowen was also invited for an unsuccessful trial with Algeciras CF.[22][23]
United States
[edit]After several years abroad, Bowen returned to the United States in 2019 to play with FC Golden State Force.[24] In 2020, he joined Detroit City in the National Independent Soccer Association.[25] Bowen returned to his former club, Ventura County Fusion in 2022.[26]
Managerial career
[edit]In 2022, Bowen was named San Domenico School men’s varsity head coach.[27][28]
