Notes:
| ||||||||
This table displays the different types of protections used in the English Wikipedia and how they impact different groups of users. The template contains many lower-greek footnotes, because the lower-greek variety is rarely used and thus the template likely won't accidentally "trap" or catch other unrelated footnotes inside its table.
Usage
The footnotes can be displayed in two different ways. If the page already contains other lower-greek footnotes, the second method must be used so that they are displayed correctly.
With the footnotes listed immediately under the table
{{Protection table}}
If the template is used alone without any parameters, the footnotes in the table are attached to the table itself, such as the example above. This means it won't throw any errors if a specific #Notes section is not already on the page.
With the template's footnotes listed outside the table
{{Protection table|notes=y}}
If the table generated by this template seems too long when placed on the page, or if the page already has a dedicated section for displaying footnotes, the notes created by this template should be listed there, to avoid disrupting the flow of the page and to improve its layout. To do this, use the additional |notes= parameter as shown above, make sure that the page has a section for displaying footnotes, and add the following entry to it: {{reflist|group=lower-greek}}
If the page doesn't already have a section for displaying footnotes, you can create it by adding this to the bottom of the page:
== Notes ==
{{reflist|group=lower-greek}}
