Tatort is a TV serial. It has been running in German-speaking TV since 1970. It is the longest-running TV serial in German TV. In English, the title, tranlates as crime scence. The serial is about police solving a fictional criminal case; in most cases a murder case. The first episode was called Taxi nach Leipzig. Originally, it was only the (then West-) German official TV producing it. Today, it is produced as a collaboration between German, Austrian and Swiss state-run TV stations.
Today, about 35 episodes are produced each year. Each episode lasts about 90 minutes. Tatort has a very high viewership, with up to 10 million viewers per episode.
