evelope example

[change source]

Is the example with envelope correct? I don't think the [e] in [e]nvelope is pronounced the same as the other examples for that phoneme. Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.174.212.91 (talkcontribs) 23:32, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Well, I suppose it comes down to the meaning. Envelope (noun) is pronounced with an /ɛ/, while envelope (verb) is pronounced with an /ɑ/. — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 23:41, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

@*Fehufangą Isn't it the other way around? Nigelhenry (talk) 12:05, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Vowels are A, E, I, O, U and sometimes Y. Not J or W, those are called consonants, not vowels. Thanks, - 𝓐𝓭𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓭𝓮 (𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓴𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓼) 20:05, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
