Mod (video games) → Video game modding – Natural disambiguation, and for consistency with similar article names such as modding, video game development and video game design. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 10:08, 20 August 2021 (UTC) ZXCVBNM (TALK) 10:08, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

- Support There would need to be a small bit of change to the lede but this article covers the action of modding and the products of modding (the "mods"), so the non-disambiguated form is better. --Masem (t) 16:45, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- Support Not much to add, natural disambiguation is good. -- ferret (talk) 17:08, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- Support per nominator, and also to avoid confusion with "Mod (video game)" which would mean a video game named "Mod". JIP | Talk 02:43, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

About adding Troll Mods/contriversy section
[edit]I was wondering if topics around how mods are used for bigoted or political reasons could be added into a section. I know there are several instances that have been reported on news sites about mods removing diverse characters and subjects. Pago95 (talk) 14:23, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and pushed an initial section about this topic under Consequences (renamed from "Unforeseen consequences and benefits of modding" as I didn't see anything particularly unforseen nor any benefits in the section) TheAlienAdventures (talk) 03:28, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
Restructuring notice
[edit]I am currently in the process of reordering and expanding on various sections of this article. There is a plethora of academic research on video game modding that I intend to draw from.

- Removing construction tag: I am still revising the article but have majorly organized the content as desired. (My personal theory is that the content hasn't been largely restructured since the rename from Mod (video game) to Video game modding, the latter of which I feel imparts a larger cultural phenomenon than simply focusing on the development aspect of modding itself).
