Wow I wish a lot others knew about this, I learned this from a book and wanted to see if it were true, and it was! You know, she found a loophole that actually was the reason that she was allowed to run, she read the constitution and the 14th amendment states that, and if I’m remembering this correctly, “…All persons born or naturalized in side the United States of America, are citizens of the United States of America…” and since part of the definition of being a US citizen comes with the right to vote, all female citizens of the US back then were already granted the right to vote! It was even in side of the constitution! Using this information she also had the right to run for president, unfortunately, like it was already stated in the article, she was arrested for making “outlandish claims” even if they were proven true. Overall, this woman was very brave, and I’m surprised that there was a woman’s right party back then. She is my idol, I was telling my history teacher in my 8th grade honors history class and he was surprised! He had know idea about that. I hope that there was more people like Woodhull out there to inspire girls like me. What do you think about this. 209.242.141.19 (talk) 21:10, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
