Historic marker

Resolves marker

This Wikipedia article explains a historic marker on the lawn of the Talbot County Court House in Easton, Maryland. In 2024, the county celebrated the 250th anniversary of the Talbot Resolves. The Colonel Tench Tilghman Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, which is the local Talbot County chapter, was involved in the celebration. Addresses main aspects

[edit]

Passed. The information is more than adequate regarding the background and aftermath of the Resolves. But the section about the Resolves themselves is rather short and could use more details about the event during which the Resolves was read.

Miscellaneous recommendations

[edit]

Suggestion 1: The first and second paragraphs of the The Resolves#Creation of the Talbot Resolves subsection should be swapped, so that the one immediately covering the creation of the Resolves comes first.

Suggestion 2: The subsection Creation of the Talbot Resolves should then be put at the beginning of the section The Resolves, and the resulting subsection about the reading of the Resolves be named appropriately. The text of the Resolves itself can stay at the bottom of the section.

Outcome and closing remarks

[edit]

I will put this article on hold because it is not a long way from GA status. This gives you a week to make the following changes:

1. Expand the section about the reading of the Talbot Resolves.

Still working on this. Will probably be a paragraph that goes in between the two paragraphs already there. TwoScars (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Added a middle paragraph that discusses the reading of the resolves as much as possible—remember that there are no records that provide details of the meeting. One could speculate that participants in the meeting may have wanted it that way since they could have become targets of the British and British sympathizers. Also added a sentence at the end of the now third paragraph that says when the historical marker was added to the courthouse lawn. TwoScars (talk) 22:22, 15 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

2. Swap the first and second paragraphs of The Resolves#Creation of the Talbot Resolves subsection.

Swapped the two paragraphs. TwoScars (talk) 16:26, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

3. Put the subsection The Resolves#Creation of the Talbot Resolves at the top of the The Resolves section.

Moved subsection to top. TwoScars (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

4. Add a subheader to the resulting subsection (What is currently the two paragraphs at the top of the section) called something like "Reading of the Talbot Resolves".

Added subheader. TwoScars (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Passed. The article is well-written and comprehensively covers every aspect of note of the Talbot Resolves. RandFreeman (talk) 22:35, 13 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@RandFreeman: I believe I am all caught up. TwoScars (talk) 22:22, 15 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Thumbs up icon RandFreeman 22:24, 15 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
