While grateful for the work others put into this page, I wonder whether any (unmentioned) restrictions apply to $m$ and $n$ when they are not in a formula where a summation sign implies that they are to be countable (and natural or whole) numbers? For example, with respect to:

\int x^{m}(\ln x)^{n}\,dx={\frac {x^{m+1}(\ln x)^{n}}{m+1}}-{\frac {n}{m+1}}\int x^{m}(\ln x)^{n-1}dx\qquad {\mbox{(for }}m\neq -1{\mbox{)}}

would real values be allowed for $m$ and $n$ , other than $m=-1$ that is?Redav (talk) 12:49, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
