Wikipedia is not a news website
[edit]Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not a news website. This article reads like a news story and the lead section is currently structured like a news story lede. The sources of the article all date from 12 July 2025 and currently does not show continuing coverage or a lasting effect. This article doesn't use this event to examine the bigger picture; any bigger picture. Like what are the consequences for the settlers? The family? The situation in the West bank and implications globally? - Cameron Dewe (talk) 21:56, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
- This article makes claims that it does not back up. For example it says that the UN claims 1000 Palestinians killed by settlers but provides no reference for this number. I think the whole thing needs a lot of work, so it would be great if you can generate a review process to ensure that the claims and evidence on this article are up to standard. Thank you. I’ve been burned by WP:GAME on this topic before, so I do not want to wade in. It would be helpful to lodge an RFC in the appropriate way so that it occurs free from WP:CANVAS.
- Thank you of you choose to follow it up. 101.119.119.213 (talk) 13:17, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- The claim is verified by the CNN citation. In the future, please format suggestions in this topic area (WP:PIA) as an edit request, per the hatnote on this talk page. An RfC is not appropriate here. Wracking talk! 20:21, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
Lead section has extra information
[edit]I have tagged this article's lead section for cleanup because it has extra information about how this killing occurred that is not mentioned elsewhere in the article. This is partly because the lead has been written in a journalistic news style. See MOS:LEAD for purpose of the lead. It should provide an accessible overview of the whole article. Information in the lead should be expanded upon in the body of the article too. See WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY - Cameron Dewe (talk) 21:56, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
- See MOS:NOLEAD. Wracking talk! 21:57, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Wracking: Thanks for your edits. I think the changes you have made work while this article is still a stub. However, the article is still just a news story at the moment. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 22:05, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
Date format
[edit]I have added a {{Use dmy dates}} tag per per MOS:DATERET because that is the date format used initially to write the article. I do observe the victim of this killing is an American, so an alternative date format could be MDY. However, this killing has occurred in an area which has roots as a British protectorate, so I can see the logic in using the DMY format for the article. Any change in date format should be discussed, first, rather than changed unilaterally. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 21:56, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
