- Hello,
- I am a fourth year medical student participating in Project Wiki Medicine and will be editing this page for clarity and citations.
- Here is my detailed plan of action:
- Introduction:
- · Expand the historical context: when FAST was developed and how it became widely used.
- · Clarify acronyms early
- · Improve the “purpose” phrasing: emphasize screening for free fluid and rapid decision-making rather than simply “blood around the heart or abdominal organs”.
- · Add citations
- Indications:
- · Add citations
- Contraindications:
- · Change section to include relative and absolute contraindications
- · Add about not delaying care
- · Citations
- Extended FAST:
- · Make the paragraph jargon more clear
- · Focus on the parts of the exam with citations
- · Section on How to perform
- Findings:
- · Try to add photos of the signs on the ultrasound
- · Update citations/ wording
- Advantages
- · Add citation/fix wording
- Interpretation:
- · Add citations
- · Fix wording/jargon
- · Update info with path and possibly add better algorithm photo Kc150 (talk) 22:24, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
- Peer Review:
- You did a great job! I liked that you expanded the definition of FAST, including mentioning vitals and E-FAST. I also liked that you discussed its benefits and limitations in greater detail. The overview of the history of DPL was also useful for providing context before FAST was widely used. You did well by adding more indications for use of FAST/E-FAST. I liked that you expanded the components section by discussing probe shape and anatomical landmarks. Adding pictures also significantly improved the article. I clicked on the links you used and was able to access them easily. You used neutral language and your sentences were not too long, which fit the Wikipedia style. I would go over the article one more time to replace a few words that general audiences might not understand (i.e. body habitus) and fix a few spelling/grammar errors, but otherwise I really liked your changes to the article!
