Styx is an American rock band. They were one of the most popular groups of the 1970s and early 1980s. They formed in Chicago in 1972. They were the first band to have four platinum albums in a row. They continued playing without Dennis Deyoung after reuniting in 1995.
Styx's most well-known songs are Come Sail Away, Renegade, and Mr. Roboto. Styx is unique because their songs commonly change form, almost like two songs has been stitched together. Crystal Ball is a good example of this. Since the addition of Tommy Shaw, and with Deyoung as a songwriter, vocalist and pianist, Styx produced 5 "platinum" albums in the US. "Grand Illusion" went triple platinum in 1977.
