The Round Rock Express are a Minor League Baseball team from Round Rock, Texas.[1] They play baseball at the Triple-A (AAA) level, the most difficult level before Major League Baseball, against other baseball teams in the Pacific Coast League (a group of 10 baseball teams at the same level).[1] The Express are partnered with the Texas Rangers, a Major League Baseball team. When a player shows that he plays well at this level, he may be moved up to play for the Rangers.
The team started playing baseball in 2000 at the Double-A level, the second-most difficult level before Major League Baseball, in the Texas League.[1] They moved to the Triple-A Pacific Coast League in 2005.[1] The team is named for Baseball Hall of Famer and Texas native Nolan Ryan, who was nicknamed "The Ryan Express."[2]
The Express have played at a stadium called the Dell Diamond since 2000.
