Poudel (Nepali: पौडेल, pouḍel), also spelled as Poudel, Paudyal, and Poudyal is a surname found among the Bahun or Hill Brahmin people of western Nepal.[1]
It derives from the town of Paudhi in Uttarakhand, India.[1]
There are 2 types of Poudel some are called "Kalo Paudel" and some are called "Seto Paudel". They are of Atreya gotra and have three pravaras (tripravara) which are Atreya, Archanan, Shyavshrav. Most of the Paudel worship Dare as their kuladevata (family deity) and some worship Varaha as their kuladevata.
