Open Season: Scared Silly! (also called Open Season 4: Scared Silly) is a 2015 American computer-animated Halloween comedy movie, produced by Sony Pictures Animation, with animation provided by Rainmaker Entertainment.[3] It is the fourth installment in the Open Season movie series, following Open Season (2006), Open Season 2 (2008), and Open Season 3 (2010).
It had a mixed reaction from audience: while they praised it for its humor, musical score and for bringing back Shaw others criticized it for its animation, some gross out jokes and for ignoring the events of the third film.
Plot
[change | change source]One chilly night in Timberline National Forest, Elliot gathers his friends around a campfire to share a spooky tale-the legend of the Wailing Wampus Werewolf, a mysterious creature said to roam the woods. The story terrifies Boog, who becomes so scared he decides to back out of their annual camping trip until he's sure the werewolf is gone. Determined to help Boog overcome his fears, Elliot, Mr. Weenie, and the other woodland animals come up with a plan to scare the fear out of him while uncovering the truth behind the legend.
Meanwhile, former hunter Shaw, now a bitter tour guide, spots a strange creature in the forest. Unbeknownst to him, the "creature" is actually Ian, a deer and Elliot's longtime rival, in a werewolf disguise. Seizing the opportunity for revenge against Boog and Elliot for defeating him years ago, Shaw petitions Sheriff Gordy to reopen hunting season. Reluctantly, the sheriff agrees but strictly limits the hunt to the alleged werewolf. Shaw, however, intends to go after Boog and Elliot as well. To aid his scheme, Shaw enlists the help of Ed and Edna, owners of the Poutine Palace.
As Boog becomes increasingly upset with Elliot's antics, their friendship is strained. Boog lashes out at Elliot, causing Elliot to venture into the forest alone to prove his bravery by catching the werewolf himself. Feeling guilty, Elliot's wife Giselle tries to persuade Boog to reconcile with Elliot, warning him that Elliot is headed toward the dangerous Dead Bear Gulch.
Meanwhile, a hungry and delirious Mr. Weenie begins to suspect he might actually be the werewolf. At Dead Bear Gulch, Elliot and Mr. Weenie encounter the "werewolf," which turns out to be Shaw in disguise. Just as things seem dire, Boog and the rest of their friends arrive in the nick of time to rescue them. After a chaotic showdown, the animals overpower Shaw and his accomplices, Ed and Edna. Sheriff Gordy arrives to arrest the trio and declares open season permanently closed. As a token of gratitude, Gordy rewards Boog with some well-deserved treats.
Just as the group begins to relax, they discover that the Wailing Wampus Werewolf is real. However, the werewolf turns out to be friendly and is won over by Elliot, who invites him to join their comport with an impromptu dance. The next morning, Bobbie and Bob happily return to their RV with Mr. Weenie, reminding him that it's his birthday. As the animals celebrate, the werewolf playfully asks Boog to wear a female werewolf costume again, but Boog, still grumpy, firmly refuses. The forest returns to peace, and the friends laugh together, closer than ever.
