Kento Yamazaki (山﨑賢人, Yamazaki Kento; born September 7, 1994) is a Japanese actor and model known for his many starring roles in live-action movies and TV shows based on popular Japanese comic and animation.[1][2][3]
Yamazaki began his career as a model after being discovered in junior high school.[1][2] He made his acting debut in 2010 but achieved his breakthrough and widespread success after being cast in major manga adaptations starting around 2014.[3] These roles include the films L DK,[4] Orange,[5] and Your Lie in April,[6] and the TV series Death Note,[7] where he played the character L and Alice in Borderland. His work in the films Orange and No Longer Heroine earned him the Newcomer of the Year award at the 39th Japan Academy Film Prize.[8]
In recent years, he has anchored major franchises. He plays the leading role of the soldier Xin in the Kingdom film series[9] and the lead character Arisu in the Netflix survival series Alice in Borderland.[10][11] He has also shown his range in TV dramas like Good Doctor (2018),[12] where he earned a Best Actor award for his performance as a young autistic surgeon.[13][14][15]
