Hafize Hafsa Sultan[1] (Ottoman Turkish: حفصة سلطان was an Ottoman princess, daughter of Şehzade Selim.

Origins

Hafize, also called Hafsa, Hafize, Hafisa or Hafiza in the sources, was born in Trebizond, on the Black Sea, as the daughter of the then Selim, son of Bayezid II and governor of the province.[2]

Marriage

Hafize Sultan married twice:

  • She married for the first time in 1511. Her first husband was Grand Vizier Dukaginzade Ahmed Pasha, executed in 1515.[3]
  • Her second husband, was Boşnak Mustafa Pasha whom she married around 1522 they had a son together.

Death

Hafize died after 1520 and was buried in the Şehzadeler türbesi in the Yavuz Selim Mosque.
