Escape from Duckov is a single-player top-down extraction shooter video game developed by Team Soda and published by Bilibili.[1] Set in a whimsical duck-themed world, it parodies Escape from Tarkov by adapting its hardcore extraction mechanics into a PvE top-down looter-shooter where players scavenge resources, engage in combat, upgrade their hideout, and extract from raids while uncovering the mysteries of Duckov.[2][3] The game was released for Microsoft Windows and macOS on October 16, 2025.[4] It achieved commercial success, selling over two million copies in less than two weeks and reaching a peak concurrent player count of over 300,000 on Steam.[2][5]
Gameplay
[edit]Escape from Duckov is a single-player PvE top-down extraction shooter and survival RPG.[1] Players customize a bird-like avatar and operate from a bunker base with a companion duck named Jeffrey, who provides quests and guidance.[2][3] The core loop involves raiding five dynamic maps with randomized loot, enemies (such as hostile birds and wolves), and conditions like weather or storms, scavenging resources, and extracting to avoid losing gear.[2]
Combat features weapons, including firearms and melee options, with an extensive modding system for attachments and ammo types.[1] Progression includes skill trees, blueprint collection, base upgrades (e.g., gyms, weapon stores), and quest content with NPC interactions that reveal narrative elements.[1] The game supports multiple difficulty settings[3] and Steam Workshop mods.[1]
Development
[edit]Escape from Duckov was developed by Team Soda, a five-person Chinese indie team and internal studio of Bilibili, led by an Escape from Tarkov enthusiast.[2][1]
Reception
[edit]Escape from Duckov received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator website Metacritic.[6] Critics praised its compelling single-player adaptation of extraction mechanics, addictive progression, and charming theme.[2][1]
