Yangesh is a Nepal-based journalist, film critic, and writer. He is known for his contributions to Nepali journalism, literature, and cinema. His career spans reporting, editing, film criticism, fiction writing, and screenwriting.

Early Life and Education

Yangesh was born in the Tanahun District of Nepal, where he also completed his early education. Growing up in Tanahun, he developed a keen interest in literature and storytelling, which later influenced his career in journalism and writing.

Career

Yangesh began his professional journey as a journalist and has worked with Kantipur and several other prominent media houses in Nepal. Over the years, he became a notable figure in Nepali media, recognized for his insightful commentary and critical perspectives on cinema and culture.

After a long tenure in journalism, Yangesh served as the Editor-in-Chief of eKantipur, the digital platform of Kantipur Media Group. Following his resignation from that position, he began his freelancing journey, focusing on independent writing, media analysis, and creative projects.

As a film writer, Yangesh wrote the screenplay for the Nepali film Fitkiree, which gained attention for its storytelling and social themes.

Literary Works

Yangesh is the author of Bhuiyan, a critically acclaimed book that won the Pahichan Puraskar. The book explores themes of identity, belonging, and human experience in modern Nepali society.

In collaboration with actor Rajesh Hamal, he co-authored Yug Dekhi Yug Samma, released in 2025. The work examines the evolution of Nepali cinema and Hamal’s enduring influence on the film industry.
