Stephen Ray Jordan (born October 14, 1960, Amarillo, Texas) is an American accountant and business owner. He is the founder and owner of SRJ Consulting & Services LLC., a firm that provides bookkeeping, payroll, and advisory services to small and mid-sized businesses.[1][2]
Biography
[edit]Jordan was born on October 14, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas. He pursued higher education at West Texas A&M University, receiving a BBA in accounting in 1983, followed by an MA in political science in the following year. In 1990, Jordan undertook doctoral coursework (EdD) at Texas A&M University in commerce, with a minor in computer science and educational media & technology.
He began his professional career in the mid-1990s, teaching at a college in Gainesville, Texas. The subjects he taught were computer science and political science from Fall 1989 to Spring 1993. From Summer 1993 to Fall 1995, he operated a computer IT consulting company, advising clients like Sandvik AB and American Airlines. From November 1995 until March 2000, he worked as a senior consultant at McAfee in Dallas, where he planned, integrated, and deployed security products and migration projects for major enterprises. In the early 2000s, he served as systems engineering manager in security sales at McAfee in Plano, Texas, managing a technology budget and supporting OEM/ISP/MSSP channels. In 2001, 2002, and 2004, he acquired Presidents Club recognition and was named Sales Engineer of the Quarter in 2001.
While serving in his technology and security roles, Jordan also entered the accounting and business operations fields. From January 2005 until August 2014, he served as a co-owner and accountant for Jordan & Jordan Insurance Group in Plano, Texas, and Shanghai, China, where he led all accounting operations, general ledger integrity, regulatory filings, and also participated in IT and cyber-risk leadership by building cyber-risk governance and advising on control remediation. Between 2013 and 2014, Jordan worked as an implementation consultant and IT project manager at Vertafore in Dallas, overseeing full-lifecycle implementations with client training, risk logs, and acceptance criteria. From August 2014 to March 2017, he was product & application security incident response team lead at Intel Corporation in Plano, Texas, managing product security incidents and disclosures across divisions, building incident frameworks and playbooks, and coordinating with legal, marketing, PR, and support teams. In 2017, he took on a similar global PSIRT leadership role at McAfee in Plano. From September 2018 to June 2019, he was senior security endpoint infrastructure manager at Citi in Irving, Texas, supervising global endpoint security across some 500,000+ nodes in 165 countries and improving response times by approximately 35%. Between July 2019 and May 2020, Jordan served as senior advisor at Optiv in Frisco, Texas, supervising a multi-million-dollar security portfolio and accelerating compliance timelines. In July and October of 2022, he worked as a technology recovery specialist at Toyota USA in Plano, Texas.[1]
In April 2023, he founded SRJ Consulting & Services in Frisco, Texas, where he provides full-service bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance support for small and mid-sized businesses. His work there includes QuickBooks Online setup and cleanup, monthly close and reporting within five business days, budget and cash-flow forecasting, accounts payable/receivable optimization, sales-tax filing, 1099 preparation, and audit-ready documentation.
In addition, Jordan holds certifications and professional development training in project management, risk management (through the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research), and computer hacking forensics investigator (CHFI) training. He possesses technical skills spanning vulnerability scanning, endpoint/data-loss prevention tools, application security testing, and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, FedRAMP, and GDPR, as well as incident-reporting processes.
As of 2025, Jordan has been serving as the owner and accountant at SRJ Consulting & Services.[1][2]
