Sanaz Eftekharzadeh is an Iranian architect, theorist, and independent researcher, born in 1975, Tehran, Iran, who has established a significant position within the academic architectural community. Eftekharzadeh is formally acknowledged among professional architects in various directories. Her professional tenure spans over two decades, covering architecture, interior design, and design management between 2001 and 2019. she has been selected as "The Architect of the year of Iran" in 2017 . [1] .
Eftekharzadeh's definitive intellectual contribution is the development of a comprehensive theoretical paradigm known as Anthropocentric Architecture based on Laws of Chaos Theory which has been as the book :" From Chaos of Perception to Cognition of Architecture , a new theory to create an anthropocentric architecture based on laws of chaos " by Architect's science publications.[2] This systematic framework defines architecture as a dynamic, evolving system, contrasting sharply with static design methodologies. The complexity and rigorous structure of this new theoretical model have been noted in Iranian architectural discourse as one of the few scientific, methodical, and original theoretical contributions developed natively within the country. Her achievements have been presented through many international conferences and articles around the world.[3], [4], [5],[6]
she is CEO of Iranian Association of Sustainable Building-City & Saoshyant design group .[7]

I. Introduction: Framing the Theoretical Architect
The Thesis of Complexity: Context for Chaos Theory in Design
The foundation of Anthropocentric Architecture (AA) rests on an intensive, interdisciplinary approach. It systematically integrates advanced scientific models, specifically Chaos Theory and Cognitive Science, with deep cultural and philosophical studies, including Semiotics, Transactional Analysis, Vastu Shastra, Persian literature, Aryan culture, ancient Iranian Mythology, and archeology.[8] The adoption of Chaos Theory was driven by an academic imperative to establish a non-subjective, systematic foundation for architectural design, moving beyond purely aesthetic or stylistic commentary. This highly structured approach was initiated by her search for logical, mathematical pathways in architecture. By using Chaos Theory, Eftekharzadeh aimed to create a robust model capable of managing the inherent complexity of the built environment and its profound interaction with human psychology and culture. The ultimate objective is to redefine architectural practice around the concept of a complex, learning system that actively prioritizes and addresses the human being’s physical, psychological, and cultural necessities.[9] ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— II. Academic and Professional Genesis Educational Trajectory and The Intellectual Pivot
Eftekharzadeh completed her Master of Science (MS) in Architecture at Shahid Beheshti University in 2001, graduating with an excellent grade on her defense.[10] Her initial drive toward systematic theory emerged early in her student career. Having entered university in 1993, her cohort primarily consisted of graduates from mathematics and science fields who found the traditional, subjective teaching methods of architectural design challenging. This fostered an early attraction to logical and mathematical foundations for design. This search led her, around 1996 to intensive engagement with the Chaos Systems Research Institute, managed by Dr. Carollux at the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences. Her research focused on the application of Chaos Theory and its findings in cognitive science regarding the levels of human perception and recognition (ادراک و شناخت ذهن). This foundational work culminated in her MS thesis, "Towards a Chaotic Architecture," which received endorsement as the faculty's first major research thesis of its kind, guided by Dr. Mahmoud Razjouyan and Dr. Abbas Erfanian Omidvar.[11] The theoretical groundwork established during this period redefined the architectural object as a space that must fundamentally "serve humanity and humanness".[12] This moment marked the establishment of the core tenet for her subsequent theory of Anthropocentric Architecture. Her early professional experience was also shaped by key figures in Iranian architecture, notably Farhad Ahmadi, who was instrumental in practically applying sustainable architecture principles in Iran, an influence reflected in Eftekharzadeh's later focus on sustainability.
Humanistic Imperative and Foundational Milestones Eftekharzadeh provides a clear ethical and utilitarian justification for her theoretical model, defining architecture as the "container of human life".[13] She posits a strong dichotomy: Anthropocentric Architecture is capable of boosting psychological tranquility, vital energy, awareness, and happiness. Conversely, "unaware architecture" can be deeply detrimental, characterized metaphorically as a "toxic mother" that can destroy lives. This powerful moral framing establishes a vital importance for the systematic rigor of her AA model.[14] The independent pursuit of theoretical rigor, which required looking beyond established architectural instruction (e.g., utilizing the Chaos Systems Research Institute ), is indicative of a researcher committed to an autonomous intellectual path. This trajectory naturally preceded her decision to found an independent research association years later, solidifying her role as an architect operating on the periphery of traditional institutional structures.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— III. Dissemination and Professional Engagement Architectural Practice and Institutional Independence Sanaz Eftekharzadeh holds a significant organizational leadership role as the CEO of the Iranian Association of Sustainable Building-City, which she founded in Tehran in 2014. This association acts as a critical hub for her research continuity, focusing on the interplay between sustainability, Chaos Theory, cognitive science, and Iranian cultural studies. Analysis of the institutional landscape indicates that her organizational leadership is specifically situated within the association she established. she also has her architecture design studio named Saoshyant for architecture practice and planning .[15]. She has been a judge for several national and international competitions in Iran and Italy, such as the international Interior Architecture Award and the Building of the Year Award of Iran and international A-design award in Italy in 2017.[16],[17] ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— IV. Recognition, Context, and Intellectual Stance Formal Recognition and Public Role Sanaz Eftekharzadeh’s work has received formal recognition in Iran. She was named "the best architect of the year" in 2017 by the Honar-e-Memari organization.[18] Her ongoing role as a prominent theorist is confirmed by her participation as a keynote speaker at significant domestic forums, such as the 2022 event on Interactions Between Tradition + Modernity in Architecture, which focused on the critical relationship between historical and contemporary design in Iran.[19] She is also active in the field of artistic photography and has been selected and participated in several international exhibitions with the Varart collection to bring the voices of Iranian women to the world.[20]و[21] The Architect's Manifesto: Architecture as Cultural Agency Eftekharzadeh provides a profound self-description that elevates her architectural theory beyond technical methodology into a manifesto for cultural action. She characterizes herself in four intertwined roles 3: 1. The Researcher: One who starts with mathematics and culminates in mysticism. 2. The Artist: One who strives to connect the past of her country to the future. 3. The Warrior: One who explicitly hopes to "save her country from dogmatic believes to bring back happiness and identity." 4. The Resurrector: One who intends to help the architecture of Iran "rise from the ashes of his culture like a phoenix." This strong, explicit language confirms that Anthropocentric Architecture is intended as a framework for cultural and societal reform. By establishing the theory on the objective rigor of Chaos Theory, Eftekharzadeh seeks to provide an unassailable, systematic justification for prioritizing human-centered design principles and promoting cultural freedom against ideological limitations. The entire narrative arc of her intellectual life—from the mathematical frustrations of her student days to the final mystical-cognitive goal of the seven stages—is summarized by her assertion that she is "a researcher began from mathematics and end to mysticism".[22],[23],[24] Currently, Eftekharzadeh is collaborating with Iran University of Science and Technology university and UNESCO's Child Friendly City Science Group to create better architecture and urban planning for the next generation in the age of artificial intelligence.[25],[26]
