Rosco Vision is an American manufacturer of automotive vision safety solutions for commercial and public-sector vehicles. Founded in 1907, the company develops backup cameras, mirrors, driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and fleet management tools for industries including school transportation, emergency services, and logistics. Rosco is recognized for technological innovation and is among the major suppliers of mirrors and visual safety systems for school buses in North America.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

Rosco was founded in Manhattan, New York, in 1907 by Morris Rosenberg as a manufacturer of safety equipment for automotive and aeronautical markets. It relocated its headquarters to Jamaica, Queens, in 1974.

In 1991, Rosco was awarded a U.S. military contract to supply mirrors for Humvees; the following year it introduced remote-controlled mirrors to the school bus market.

By 2008, the company expanded into video safety systems with the Dual-Vision® dash camera. In 2009, Rosco achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification for quality management.[4]

In 2012, Rosco acquired MirrorLite to expand its mirror systems business.[5] In 2013, it partnered with Mobileye to integrate collision avoidance and pedestrian detection systems into fleet vehicles.[6]

In 2016, Rosco launched RoscoLive, a cloud-based platform combining telematics and video data.[7] In 2021, it introduced the DV6 AI-powered dash camera, which included new video analytics features.[3]

In 2021, Rosco’s marketing and product launch campaign, executed with DPDK, earned four MarCom Awards.[8] In 2023, Rosco joined the NGO Together for Safer Roads to help promote fleet safety globally.[9] In 2024, it entered a strategic partnership with NEORide to advance transit vehicle safety technology.[10]

In 2025, private equity firm Graycliff Partners announced an investment in Rosco Vision to support growth, technology expansion, and market diversification. The investment is intended to help accelerate Rosco’s product innovation and international partnerships.[11]

Products and Services

[edit]

Rosco’s product offerings include:

  • Backup cameras and electronic mirror (e-Mirror) systems
  • Collision avoidance systems and driver behavior analytics
  • Dash cameras (e.g. Dual-Vision® and DV6) with cloud video integration
  • Surround view and blind spot monitoring systems
  • Mirrors, visors, sensor modules, and related peripherals

The DV6 system works with telematics platforms like Geotab to detect events such as tailgating, distraction, and collision risk.[12] Rosco also offers the Mobileye Shield+ solution for pedestrian and cyclist detection, especially for large vehicles in urban settings.[13]

Its clients include OEMs such as Blue Bird, Navistar, and Freightliner, as well as fleet operators like FedEx, UPS, and the U.S. Postal Service.[2]

Operations

[edit]

Rosco operates from its headquarters in Jamaica, New York. As of 2024, it employs about 340 staff across North America.[14] The company designs, tests, and manufactures many of its vision safety products in-house, with a focus on the U.S. market.
