P. R. Judson is an Indian architectural visualiser, artist and designer based in Kochi, Kerala. He is known for drawing architectural sketches upside down, enabling clients seated opposite him to view the drawings in the correct orientation as they are created.[1]
Early life and career
[edit]Media reports note that Judson began drawing from a young age and developed an interest in perspective sketching before moving into architectural illustration.[2] He started his professional career as a 3D visualiser in the late 1980s, focusing on architectural perspectives and hand-drawn renderings.
Judson later founded Judeson Associates Architects and Interiors in Kochi, which works on architecture, interior design, and visualisation projects in India and the UAE.[3]
Upside-down sketching technique
[edit]Judson is known for creating architectural sketches while holding the drawing in an inverted orientation. His work attracted international media attention after demonstrations in the United Arab Emirates, including an upside-down sketch of the Dubai Opera.[4]
Indian media outlets have also highlighted his approach, describing how he produces hand-drawn architectural perspectives without relying on digital tools.[5] A feature published by Manorama Online in 2022 discussed his reverse-drawing technique in detail.[6]
Recognition
[edit]In 2019, Judson was acknowledged in media reports for completing inverted drawings at a public event in Kochi, where he was featured in regional press and record listings.[7][8]
Media coverage
[edit]Judson’s work has been covered by several Indian and international news outlets, including:
- Gulf News in the UAE for his upside-down 3D sketches.[9]
- The Hindu for his hand-drawn architectural methods.[10]
- The New Indian Express profiling his career background.[11]
- Times of India and NewsExperts for his participation in world record events.[12][13]
