Nathan Messer is an English professional footballer who currently plays as a defender for Portland Hearts of Pine in the USL League One.
Career

[edit]Messer spent 4 years playing for College of William & Mary before transferring to Providence College for an additional year. [1]
Professional Career
[edit]Messer began his professional career playing on the USL League Two team Vermont Green FC, where he played from 2022 to 2023. [2] He then moved to the USL Championship team Rhode Island FC, where he was a part of the 2024 Eastern Conference winning team.[1]
He signed to the USL League One team Portland Hearts of Pine in 2025,[1] where he has earned a number of distinctions. As of September 16, 2025, he has been named to the USL League One team of the week on four different occasions during the 2025 season.[3] As of September 22, 2025, he leads the league in second place in number of crosses at 174. [4]
