This article is about the educational Youtube channel. For other uses, see KLT (disambiguation).

Kids Learning Tube (KLT) is an educational YouTube channel that produces videos for children. The channel was created in 2015.[1] by Matt Lawrence and is known for its educational content.[2]

Kids Learning Tube produces videos that use music and animation to teach children about various subjects, including geography, science, history, and mathematics. The channel combines songs with visual content to present educational material for young audiences.

The channel’s content includes songs about countries, continents, planets, historical figures, math concepts, among other topics. [1] As of 2025, Kids Learning Tube has received over 2.2 billion views and has more than 2 million subscribers on YouTube, in addition to followers on other social media platforms.

Matt Lawrence produces content intended to teach children about various subjects. While Kids Learning Tube has garnered a substantial online following, little personal information about Matt Lawrence beyond his work on the channel is publicly available.[3]

History

[edit]

The Kids Learning Tube channel was created on January 26, 2015. It started off with some basic songs, such as the Colors song, the Opposite song, or the Shapes song. But that was subject to change. Soon, they extended into more songs and changed their schedule into a weekly one instead of a biweekly one. There was many songs, such as the 7 Continents song, or, one of their biggest hits and their most popular video, The Planets Song, which has over 211 million views[4], following the Vegetable song, with about 117 million[5].

Countryflips and more advanced topics

[edit]

On January 11, 2016, the first ever "countryflip" (term will show below) was uploaded on the channel, the 50 States Song, with about 45 million views[6]

A countryflip is either a fanmade or KLT-made geography song. Other variants include: a planetflip (space) and a bodyflip (anatomy).

2019-2021

[edit]

In 2019, a new channel named Calm Down Micah Video Productions, or CDM for short, made some countryflips which were not animated, other creators countryflipped them. CDM's songs ranged from countries, such as Rwanda, Belize, and even Tonga, astronomy, such as Rigel, Polaris and even 51 Pegasi b, but also anatomy, such as the respiratory system song.

In 2020 some channels (such as Kxvin, Sci Show with Moh and Tourist Turk [now TurkAnimates]) animated these songs and were similar to the KLT countryflips but without the face animation. But then, disaster struck. In the midst of November of 2020, the KLT owner, Matt Lawrence, threatened to sue the aforementioned channels despite giving credit for the assets. Out of fear, the channels privated and even deleted their videos except for Sci Show with Moh. He, out of the brave ones, said that "there was no risk in keeping them up". His countryflips are still up to this day, and some people ask Kxvin to unprivate some songs as 2024 and 2025 got more into animation.[7]

Electric Monster and ZATV (2021-present)

[edit]

In 2021 KLT was bought by Electric Monster Media (now rebranded into ZATV). At first, there were noticeable changes in the video names and also thumbnails which were changed, but some still stayed the same.

After a while, the KLT community noticed the commotion and were in the anti-EM sentiment. There was even a song about AI in KLT, and the visuals were actually made by AI[8]. All of a sudden in July 2024, KLT stopped uploading. Turned out that EM ran out of funds and no one knew about when they would come back.

On January 26, 2025 the entire KLT community partied and talked about the 10th anniversary of the KLT channel. The event was called KLT10, which featured videos animated in the KLT style by many creators, including KLTRR (which started in 2022), E TAN THE BIG MAN, Orion, and VexGeography.[9]

In March 2025, KLT came back with the old style but the faces were not well done, because the mouth was too big. On November 1, they finally uploaded a video with the old style mouth (like in early 2021 before the acquisition by EM), but it turned out that the video was outdated, it showed the regions of Turkmenistan, but Ahal's capital was not Anau anymore. Lawrence said in a Google Meet that he already animated all countries in 2022 in the 2021 style except for Israel and Palestine to not cause any controversy.
