Juan Felipe Varner Velásquez (born 28 May 1989, in Bogotá, Colombia) is a Colombian motorcycle traveler, content creator, and industrial engineer known for being the first Colombian to cross Patagonia in winter on a motorcycle equipped with studded tires.[1]
Biography
[edit]Varner was born in Bogotá, Colombia, to a North American father, Veryl Varner, and a Colombian mother, Olga Velásquez. He graduated as an Industrial Engineer from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá.
Before dedicating himself to full-time travel and content creation, he worked as a software engineer specializing in .NET and web technologies.
In 2024, he gained international attention for his journey through the Carretera Austral and Patagonia during the southern winter, documenting the challenges of snow, ice, and extreme weather conditions. To complete the journey, he installed studded tires on his motorcycle, an unprecedented modification for a Colombian rider attempting such a feat.[2]
