This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Habib Alraii (Arabic: حبيب الراعي) (born 1968) is a Syrian painter, researcher and art educator. He is known for mixed-media paintings that blend figurative and abstract elements and for writing on contemporary Arab and Palestinian visual art. He has exhibited in Syria and internationally and has been active as an art lecturer in several Arab countries and in Sweden.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Habib Alraii was born in Homs, Syria, in 1968.[1] He studied fine arts and completed a doctorate (PhD) in art science and techniques at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Tunis in 2005.[2]
Career
[edit]Alraii worked as an art lecturer and taught at higher-education art programs in Syria, Jordan and Tunisia for many years before moving to Sweden, where he continued to produce and exhibit work and participate in local art associations.[3][1]
He is the author of the study Sūra al-Wāqiʿ fī al-fan al-tashkīlī al-Filastīnī al-muʿāṣir (roughly: *The Image of Reality in Contemporary Palestinian Plastic Art*), a work discussing the development and themes of Palestinian visual art.[4][5]
Exhibitions
[edit]Alraii has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Syria and in Europe, including exhibitions and residencies in Sweden (Dalsland / Dals Långed and Steneby) where he has shown works such as Himmel och jord and Sufi-manifestationer.[2][6]
Style and themes
[edit]Alraii's work combines figurative motifs with abstract fields and mixed media; recurring themes in his paintings include spirituality, cultural memory, and Arabic script as a visual element. Critics and exhibition notes highlight his interest in cultural identity and the dialogue between tradition and modern visual language.[1]
Recognition and roles
[edit]He is a member of regional art associations in Sweden and has been listed in Swedish artist directories and local art organizations since relocating there.[1]
