History

[edit]

The Crucible Project was founded in 2002 by Greg Huston. It started in the Chicagoland area as a weekend retreat for men in search of Christian discipleship and personal reflection. Over time, it grew to include programs for women and international participants. In 2019, Roy D. Wooten became Executive Director, succeeding Chris Cleghorn.

Programs

[edit]

The Crucible Project’s flagship program is its Initial Weekend retreat. The retreat introduces men and women to activities and guided discussions based on Christian principles, emotional awareness, and personal reflection. Graduates can continue in additional programs such as small groups, leadership, and second-level weekends.

By 2025, the organization reported that more than 8,000 participants had completed the Initial Weekend retreat.
