Chrome Angelz RC (Chrome Angelz Riding Club, CARC) is a women's motorcycle riding club based in Galloway Township, New Jersey. It was founded in 2011 by teacher and motorcyclist Annamarie "Anna Marie" Sesta.[1] According to the Journal Tribune and Duluth News Tribune, the group identifies as a neutral, women-only riding club and organizes an annual convention.[2][3]

The parent nonprofit, Chrome Angelz RC Inc, has IRS tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3).[4]

History

[edit]

The SandPaper reports that Sesta founded Chrome Angelz RC in 2011 after looking for other women to ride with in southern New Jersey; an early Jersey Shore chapter was followed by additional chapters, including in Michigan.[1]

In 2018, the Journal Tribune (via the Portland Press Herald) reported about 120 attendees at the national convention in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and stated that the organization had grown to 140 chapters on four continents.[2] In 2019, the Duluth News Tribune wrote that Chrome Angelz RC had "more than 150 chapters worldwide" during the Duluth convention.[3]

NBC26 covered an Oshkosh-area chapter benefit ride in 2019 and described the organization as a nonprofit with 176 chapters.[5] That year, the Wisconsin Agriculturist reported fundraising help for a Wisconsin dairy family following tornado damage.[6]

A 2021 article by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys described Chrome Angelz RC as an international organization…[7] In the same year, Cronkite News (Arizona PBS) profiled Navy veteran Sue McConnell of the Desert Roses chapter, highlighting members’ volunteer work with the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System.[8]

Organization and membership

[edit]

Coverage in the Duluth News Tribune, NBC26 and WBBM describes Chrome Angelz RC as a women-only riding club rather than a territorial motorcycle club.[3][5][9] A 2021 profile by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys characterizes the group as international and highlights chapter-level charity work.[7] The IRS recognizes Chrome Angelz RC Inc as a 501(c)(3).[4]

Activities

[edit]

Rides and conventions

[edit]

According to reporting in 2018 and 2019, chapters organize group rides and an annual convention; about 120 members attended the 2018 Old Orchard Beach event, and the 2019 Duluth event drew participants from multiple states and Canada.[2][3]

Charity and community work

[edit]

Local coverage has noted charity events by chapters, including an NBC26-covered benefit ride for a disabled veteran, tornado-relief fundraising reported by the Wisconsin Agriculturist, a WBBM story on a bra drive partnership, and volunteer work with the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System mentioned by Cronkite News.[5][6][9][8]

Recognition

[edit]

Coverage in regional and national media has described Chrome Angelz RC as one of several organizations supporting women riders in motorcycling culture.[2][3] SupportBikers.com lists Chrome Angelz RC among international riding groups for women motorcyclists.[10]
