Axure Software

[edit]

Axure Software Solutions, Inc. is an American software company that develops tools for user experience (UX) design, prototyping, and collaboration. The company is best known for Axure RP, a prototyping application used by product managers, business analysts, and UX designers to create interactive wireframes and prototypes.

History

[edit]

Axure Software Solutions was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in San Diego, California[1]. The company released its flagship product, Axure RP, in 2003. RP (short for Rapid Prototyping) was designed to enable UX professionals to create interactive prototypes without writing code. Over time, the application evolved to support advanced interaction design, adaptive views for responsive layouts, and documentation for specifications.

In 2018, Axure introduced Axure Cloud (previously Axure Share)[2], a platform for hosting, sharing, and collaborating on prototypes and design documents. Axure Cloud expanded the company’s focus from desktop prototyping to team-based collaboration and feedback.

Products

[edit]

  • Interactive prototyping with conditional logic, variables, and dynamic content[3].
  • Adaptive views to simulate responsive design across devices.
  • Widget libraries.
  • Offline functionality.

Axure Cloud

[edit]

Axure Cloud is a web-based collaboration platform that allows teams to share prototypes, whiteboards, and documents. Features include:

  • Commenting and feedback.
  • Version history and file organization.
  • Whiteboarding and document tools.
  • Documentation, annotation, and specifications for developer handoff.
  • Integrations with tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Jira and Confluence[4].

Usage

[edit]

Axure’s products are used by UX designers, product managers, and business analysts in industries including technology, finance, healthcare, and government. The software is noted for its ability to create high-fidelity prototypes that simulate real product behavior[5], making it distinct from UI-focused design tools such as Figma or Sketch[6].

Security and Compliance

[edit]

Axure maintains an information security management system certified under ISO/IEC 27001[7] and undergoes regular SOC 2 Type II[8] audits. Axure Cloud supports enterprise features such as single sign-on (SSO) and on-premises[9] hosting for customers with stricter security requirements.
