Yusufzai

The Yusufzai (also spelt Yousafzai and also known as Esapzai or Yūsufī) are a large Pashtun tribe inhabiting several areas in Afghanistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. At present, a young girl, Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan is the best known member of this tribe globally.
History
[change | change source]The Yusufzai tribe were originally from Kandahār where they migrated from to their main area today being the Kunar, Peshawar and Swat valleys. They are a fiercely independent tribe who did not accept the rule and fought off the powers of the Mongols, Mughals, British, Soviets and Americans.
