I was wondering; should the other parameters of Template:ANI-notice and Template:AN-notice be pointed out in the header? Specifically the |thread= parameter might be useful to make it more obvious to editors what the thread they are being notified of is called. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) 23:30, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it would save having to guess or ctrl+f what one might be involved in. Fortuna, imperatrix 12:21, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've boldly added the parameter. It doesn't affect ANI, which is unfortunate, though I'm not sure how to change that. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) 13:05, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well 45dogs, it doesn't seem to have bricked anything (yet)  :) But can't the ANI one be done as well? I thought they'd be more or less the same thing? Fortuna, imperatrix 18:36, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fortuna imperatrix mundi, it doesn't seem so. AN's template is translcuded with {{Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Header}}, while ANI's is with {{/Header}}. I believe a separate template would need to be made for ANI. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) 20:47, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, I found it just by typing in Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents/Header. Don't know why that I didn't figure to do that before, but the parameter has been added. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) 21:08, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Blocking My rights as an editor were violated by User:Cullen328 as did not put a warning before block as the rules. Cladeal832 (talk) 03:39, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You were blocked for excessive edit-warring. GoodDay (talk) 03:48, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely Not a violation of site rules, as you (Cladeal832) were Edit Warring which was excessive. Untamed1910 (talk) 03:53, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
At this point I’d support a site-wide block as you do not appear capable of editing in a collaborative manner. 173.22.12.194 (talk) 04:05, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

OCLC error in an ANI archive

[edit]

Hello, all.

Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1205#Pattern of LLM edits on contentious topics contains an actual citation template with a relevant OCLC error. This is causing the archive to populate into Category:CS1 errors: OCLC, which is configured to ignore "/Archive#" subpages but not "/IncidentArchive#." Is there a way to stub out the category, so that we don't perpetually have a OCLC error floating around in the category? ~ Matthewrb Get in touch · Breadcrumbs 07:04, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing archives to remove errors is ok (if there really is a benefit). I fixed that in diff. Johnuniq (talk) 07:29, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I figured so, I just wasn't sure the best way to go about it. I realize that a <nowiki> would make the most sense...
Thank you for taking care of it! ~ Matthewrb Get in touch · Breadcrumbs 07:51, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary account warning

[edit]

@Voorts @Sdkb: Disagreeing with the revert at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents/Header, we've already had a lot of spurious reports at WP:ANI and WP:AN and this notice could really be helpful. Also open to changing the example to ~2025-12345-67 to be easier for the pattern-matching eye. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 20:37, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fine with me. Maybe what we really need is another talk page blast and another watchlist notice. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:38, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The format change is fine with me. I think we should keep this up for the near future until people stop posting about this here. It's distracting to have every five topics be "these look like socks to me because they have the same name format". voorts (talk/contributions) 20:39, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the wording, I was agreeing with your addition of the notice and disagreeing with Sdkb's revert! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 20:39, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think I was unclear. I disagree with the revert too. The notice should remain up here and at ANI. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:39, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be fine with re-adding it iff we enclose it in {{Show by}} so that the notice is auto-removed, say, a month from now, and doesn't stick around forever. This is a problem now because of the transition, but (unless I'm missing something) I don't think it'll be a problem once we get used to temporary accounts. Sdkbtalk 20:44, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Voorts - do a talk page/watchlist message. GiantSnowman 20:47, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Show by would be fine. Maybe another 2 months? voorts (talk/contributions) 20:49, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Copying my revert message in case it's helpful: This feels like instruction bloat to me. Experienced editors will all be familiar with temp accounts shortly. And while they might show up here more than the average spot, there's still no intrinsic connection — if they need further explanation then they need it in a more general spot.
