Question
[edit]How are you, long time no see? Also, I wanted to ask if you would like to review Hunter Schafer's FAC nom or Fire (1996 film)'s GAN nom- I will review WYFF if you review either. HSLover/DWF (talk) 06:46, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- @DoctorWhoFan91 I'll be traveling through October 10, so I can't commit to reviews right now, but I do appreciate the thought and I do plan on doing reviews when I get back. Hope you're doing well. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 14:29, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, sure, you can review either/both when you get back. I'm doing well. HSLover/DWF (talk) 07:59, 4 October 2025 (UTC)

- Thank you for your review of Fire, it was a great review. I'm not sure if your pings are on- so also came here to tell you I have made the changes or replied for the stuff you said. You can check if it's in a passing state now. HSLover/DWF (talk) 04:33, 11 November 2025 (UTC)

- @Jp33442 This is actually how I discovered KEXP, too. It was 2022. The Suns were being so badly blown out by the Mavericks in Game 7 of the Western Conference playoffs (no joke) that I needed to channel my anger. I looked for the most popular (by pageviews) US station I could work on. KEXP stood out, and I knew I could write into Seattle. The rest is history. This was the first new FA on a radio station in 10 years. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 03:34, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

Newspapers.com stats
[edit]Hello! Thanks for reviewing my DYK nom. How can I check where I rank in Newspapers.com links added? I gotta be making my way up there... JTtheOG (talk) 03:58, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- @JTtheOG Here (it might take a bit to load). You've added on net 1,005 links, 28th all-time. I'm fifth all-time with 3,333, which is quite off to me. Patriarca12 is #1 and is a machine at citing college football results. It's funny and makes a lot of sense that three of the top five clip-adders are sports editors because there is so much U.S. sports content possible with that site. It's strange because older versions of this data set give a five-digit number, which makes quite a bit more sense for me with 40K clippings. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 04:36, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- Wow.. 22k is utterly unfathomable. "Machine" is right. On another note, the value of Newspapers.com really cannot be over-exaggerated. It's crazy to think about the troves of information buried in those archives, ready to be found decades or centuries later and brought back to life... JTtheOG (talk) 05:01, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- @JTtheOG SounderBruce told me about TWL in 2019. It was a turning point for me as an editor. TV and radio stations used to be a backwater where we had to have an RfC about adhering to the Manual of Style. Now? We had the first new radio station FA in a decade and six more in TV stations, and I have more than 200 Good Articles and all-time 800 DYKs (660 of them since 2019). Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 05:07, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- Well done. Those are similarly impressive numbers. For some reason, up until extremely recently, DYKs were sort of one of those things I've always been aware of but never bothered to find out anything about..? But I'm glad I'm tapped in now. You can expect to see my name around.
- P.S. I was going to ask if you've worked on anything in San Diego County before, but I see that you've edited XHITZ-FM more than a couple times. XHFG-FM is another local binational station that might be of interest to you. :) JTtheOG (talk) 05:46, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

Request recreation of article "List of MyNetworkTV affiliates"
[edit]You could at least give a chance for at least merging the List of MyNetworkTV affiliates onto the List of Fox Broadcasting Company affiliates, rather than deleting the article entirely. Besides, its now impossible to maintain a list for a number of TV stations (especially low-powered Class A stations) with specific call sign letters that are important to remember in each DMA since the article was deleted. 2600:6C50:57F:BA33:B5E0:125F:4375:76B2 (talk) 02:10, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- That is inadvisable because they are separate entities. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 02:21, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- They are not separate entities, as a number of the stations affiliated with the syndication service have made it more of a brand extension of the Fox network rather than being a completely separate broadcast network with its own branding; Besides, only a handful of stations (particularly the Fox-owned stations and Gray Media-owned KPDX) have changed their branding to align itself as an extension to the sister station's branding. 2600:6C50:57F:BA33:B5E0:125F:4375:76B2 (talk) 02:38, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

- I wish Ion Television shuts down its over-the-air operations completely as it converts to an internet-only FAST channel within a few years, because I want Qubo to relaunch and take over the channel space occupied by Ion. Besides, Qubo Channel had more variety in its schedule as it aired more children's programming than Ion Television, which just airs endless crime drama reruns that are boring and repetitive as local programming virtually non-existent on their stations. It upsets me why the E.W. Scripps Company acquired Ion Media in 2021 and decided to shutdown Qubo entirely because they didn't view it as "mature" enough compared to the Katz Broadcasting specialty networks that Scripps acquired in 2017. 2600:6C50:57F:BA33:B5E0:125F:4375:76B2 (talk) 02:59, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

Guide to temporary accounts
[edit]Hello, Sammi Brie. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.
Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
- When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:
~2025-12345-67(a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5). - All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
- A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
- As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
- Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
- Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.
Impact for administrators
- It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
- It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
- Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
- Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
- Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.
~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR
, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67) - See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.
Useful tools for patrollers
- It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options →
Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
- Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
- Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
- The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

WNWE has launched
[edit]According to RabbitEars (https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=station_search&callsign=776263#station), WNWE seemed to have been launched, but I don't know if its own station, or as an ATSC station. OWaunTon (talk) 14:59, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- @OWaunTon I really don't know where this should go right now other than List of television stations in Wisconsin. The L2C was filed in early September per Jon Ellis. They've built it out as a very low-power facility. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 17:31, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

Congratulations to this great achievement! - Today I remember a singer who impressed me on stage. - You are invited to the peer review after FAC, - in a poll, you could simply mark yes or no for the four open questions. It's an experiment. The piece has its 300th anniversary on Christmas Day, and should be as good as possible by then. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:59, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
I have three biographies on the main page today, miss a fourth one, nominated a fifth, that means little time for other matters. My places now include La Scala, - see music, Verdi three times, and twice in my story! - I have been persuaded to try GA reviewing, - do you have one open that would fit a newcomer? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:03, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- I need to nominate a batch, @Gerda Arendt, so I will do this. Go to User:Sammi Brie/Pipeline and pick out a page and I will nominate it. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 17:08, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- Good idea, I hope to get to it soon. - Look, today's image, - she "portrayed" herself with her husband at the end of the table, - would have been good for Thanksgiving ;) - I opened the FAC again, - feedback welcome. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:34, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
I am posting this message because you have recently participated in a good article review circle and currently have unreviewed articles at WP:GAN. As you know, GARC is an excellent way to get a GAN reviewed more quickly and help reduce the backlog. I hope you will consider participating again: feel free to ping me if there are any questions or concerns. Happy editing! Z1720 (talk) 18:26, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
Thank you very much, Sammi, for the incredible spade work you've done on the channel. I've turned it over in my mind for a few days, but I finally got a GeneaologyBank account and started looking through articles on the deintermixture side of the equation, starting with the genesis and the conclusion. What sealed the decision to get the account was the fact that there was only one vague blurb in Broadcasting on WIRL losing the channel 25 CP in 1963, leaving it open for WEEK-TV to snap up the channel months later; I have the results here and will update WEEK-TV's page shortly. Something will come of this digging soon; I will update you with more.[1][2][3][4] Gatorman (talk) 05:05, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

Gatorman (talk) 05:05, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- The Peoria paper was essential to doing 19, @Gatorman. Broadcasting has a wrong start date for WTVH/19 (October 12), which does not match with anything said in the Peoria papers. In fact, we had October 20 as the listed start date until I rewrote this article. WHOI was an interesting station. Doug Quick identified shortcomings in its early history, but they were not insurmountable. What was not was the IBEW strike in 1982–83, which Quick's summary fails to mention, and the 20-plus years of just increasingly meh owners that followed. Forward ran good stations; KCAU-TV was a market leader for all but the last few years of the company's ownership, for instance. (If you're wondering, KCAU and WRAU were almost certainly named as callbacks to WSAU in Wausau, the company's home office.) But the 80s saw many of them get lapped in various ways. The fact that Gray passed on this station in 2002 speaks volumes. Are you on WP:DISCORD? We should really talk. As you can tell, there are many, many articles on broadcasting that need improvement. GenealogyBank users are extremely rare and can work on a number of markets that aren't in Newspapers.com or are missing key newspapers there, with highlights being Denver, New Orleans (Newspapers.com's Times-Picayune ends in 1977), Milwaukee... Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 05:24, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Yes; I am joeygatorman there. Please hit me up sometime!
- P.S. While on the subject of Forward's call signs, we also have WKAU—found in a brochure in the middle of Quick's page—but it was probably a sheer coincidence they were licensed to Kaukauna, Wisconsin, serving the Green Bay–Fox Cities region. Gatorman (talk) 05:32, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

DYK for WYFF
[edit]On 21 November 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article WYFF, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a South Carolina TV station began broadcasting just in time to ring in the New Year? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/WYFF. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, WYFF), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

KAAL
[edit]I appreciate that; I was more concerned about the TJMaxx link-out more than anything else so I wanted to neutralize that and search later to make sure it was indeed the "TJMaxx Shopping Center" just because of how generic it was, or if it was still officially known as that by the mall's manager (when WP:RETAIL and WP:TV crossover in an article, it's like two interest areas that mix otherwise like oil and water 😐). | ... is that right? 10 months in a row? With your help, the WikiProject's top 5000 list of short descriptions has been cleared for November 2025, an especially huge milestone when the list used to "only" be 3000 articles per month! Well done. Your work has made Wikipedia better :-). LR.127 (talk) 19:07, 22 November 2025 (UTC) |
- Wow @LR.127 I didn't even realize it had become a top 5000 this month! Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 19:14, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's been requested for a while, and it was officially changed in the middle of September. Cheers :-) LR.127 (talk) 19:17, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
Around a week ago, I stumbled upon a discussion regarding merging DZMM to DWPM. I was one of the two editors who voted to "selective merge" and I explained why merging all info from May 29, 2025 onwards from DZMM to DWPM as per naming conventions. I felt that the discussion is going nowhere since it has been there for a few months and only 5 editors (including me) participated. Should I boldly move the said contents or just wait for the discussion to close? Superastig (talk) 22:24, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
