[edit]Iryna Zarutska
[edit]Murder is the appropriate term, not killing. I’m asking you to change all references to killing back to murder. 2603:6013:A600:E0D7:CC2:FBB0:BB11:7141 (talk) 22:32, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- This has been discussed extensively, and it features in the FAQ at the top of the page at Talk:Killing of Iryna Zarutska, which says "Decarlos Brown Jr. has been charged but not convicted of murder in a court of law, so the article uses the term "killing", in line with the community guidance at WP:DEATHS." This is normal Wikipedia policy based on WP:BLPCRIME. As another example, Killing of Brian Thompson is titled this way because Luigi Mangione has not been convicted of murder.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:28, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- how it's not connected to Killing of Lisa from Abcoude, I listed in my edit:
- it happened only two days prior,
- victim is as well young girl,
- perpetrator is as well black person
- So a perfect similar case to put to see also if you want to see about another black crime on young girl two days before Bildete (talk) 16:33, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- how it's not connected to Killing of Lisa from Abcoude, I listed in my edit:
- The problem here is MOS:SEEALSO. It has no direct or even indirect link to Zarutska's death.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:39, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- I know it, especially for you I read it again and again it is even very "relevant" because Killing of Lisa from Abcoude – killing of a 17-year-old (also young woman) in the Netherlands (August 20, 2025, two days apart), which similarly sparked national debate about women’s safety at (public/nighttime/transit) Bildete (talk) 16:54, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- Since this is an article related issue, it could be raised at Talk:Killing of Iryna Zarutska for broader input. What is really needed here is significant sourcing that links the two cases, otherwise there is a problem with original research.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 17:24, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
