Something has gone wrong recently

Something has changed fairly recently, I think with this infobox, and now the Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov infoboxes (and maybe others) are not displaying correctly - quite a bit of info missing. When the "module" field is removed, these infoboxes seem to display correctly. The change was after 17-August this year, because on that date, I made a comment about the "years active" in the Kasparov infobox; and now that is not displaying at all. Embedding problem

@Zackmann08 and Jonesey95: When this infobox is embedded within Template:Infobox person two subheadings appear: Sports career and Chess career. Khiikiat (talk) 15:18, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm... @Jonesey95: I'm stumped. You definitely seem to have the right approach but now the first testcase is broken... The Chess Career golden header is missing. I need to do some other stuff at the moment but will get into it later if you don't fix it before I get a chance.

@Khiikiat and Adpete: thanks for catching my errors here. I should have done more thorough testing when I converted this. Definitely a lesson learned. If we can't suss out the problem in the next few hours I will revert the changes until the sandbox fixes it. We will make this right today! Ok should be fixed now! @Jonesey95 there was actually an issue with {{Infobox sportsperson}} (see diff). The if statement wasn't accounting for |module2=. This is necessary (and is done by all other templates) since otherwise all articles that include a blank line between the template and the article's text show up with extra spacing at the top of the article, see for example the article Mikhail Tal where this is causing an extra <br> to be rendered.
