Conurbation versus City
[edit]Article currently reads: "Nottingham is the seventh largest conurbation in the United Kingdom. Despite this, the city had a poor transportation system ... "
Perhaps it is inconsistent to refer to Nottingham as a "conurbation" in the first sentence, and as a "city" in the second sentence? If the concept of "conurbation" (as opposed to a lesser unit, "city") is important, maybe the article should be rewritten to use some phrase other than "city" (although saying "conurbation" two successive sentences seems clumsy to me). If "city" suffices in the second sentence, then maybe "conurbation" is excessive in the first sentence.
I'll leave this to someone more familiar with the issues.
