Wehrmacht officer

[edit]

Shouldn't there be more of an emphasis on the fact that he was a Wehrmacht officer? Seems quite strange that him being a Nazi is barely mentioned. And that he has "right leaning political views"... ColorfulSquid (talk) 14:13, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No, Franz Josef Strauss was not a Nazi member. In fact, as a student he was an active member of a Roman Catholic youth organization that clashed with the Nazi Party. Ency Britannica states: "Strauss studied at the University of Munich and was an active member of a Roman Catholic youth organization that clashed with the Nazi Party of Adolf Hitler. Called up for military service in 1939...." All young German men were drafted and those with university education like Strauss became junior officers in the Army ("Wehrmacht") Rjensen (talk) 15:07, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
