The broad scope of artificial evolution

[edit]

Artificial evolution can be addressed in a number of ways in computer science, thus I suggest this article is of interest to the Computer Science WikiProject and propose to amend the WikiProject list accordingly. Of course this article is at too early a stage to comment on its importance to any WikiProject.Worramlaup21 (talk) 15:42, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Artificial Evolution Conference and Wikipedia General Notability Guidelines

[edit]

The Wikipedia {{notability}} tag was placed on this article in June 2018. A brief review of sources about this conference suggests that there are sufficient secondary sources to support inclusion under the Notability (events) criteria. This article refers to a conference that has had historical impact (16 instances to date) in the natural computing and evolutionary computation research communities, overlapping parts of the computer science research community. Secondary sources are available in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science series, and in evidence regarding participation in terms of plenary speakers and in terms of other activities that this conference has generated through the Artificial Evolution Association that was orginally created with the intention of organising the conference. At present evidence of this in the article is incomplete, because of the early stage at which the tag was placed, and the time it takes to add sufficient sources. In the process of expanding the article to meet these requirements I anticipate that the article may need to include both Artificial Evolution (conference) and Association for Artificial Evolution and that the title may need to be moved accordingly.Worramlaup21 (talk) 16:05, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Since writing this comment I have added more material to the article, and believe that the {{notability}} tag placed over seven years ago is no longer relevant. This article does not meet general notability criteria across all areas, only as a relevant recurring research conference (Artificial Evolution) associated with a professional body (Artificial Evolution Association) established to organise this conference and other activities. Thus, I will remove the {{notability}} tag. This does not mean that the article is complete. If you have any concerns, please reply.Worramlaup21 (talk) 15:59, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed article title move

[edit]

At present this article refers under its present title Artificial Evolution Conference to a conference Artificial Evolution that does not have the word Conference in its title. Thus I propose a title move to better reflect the subject of the article. One choice Artificial Evolution would be good because it refers both to the conference title and to the Artificial Evolution Association that organises the conference. At the present time this might be difficult because there is a redirect from Artificial evolution to Evolutionary computation. An alternative Artificial Evolution (conference) would make it clear what most of the article is about, but exclude from the title the Artificial Evolution Association that is also referred to in the article. Any thoughts about the choice. If I do not hear otherwise, I will proceed with what works.Worramlaup21 (talk) 08:12, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Title move has been made to Artificial Evolution (conference). Links are being checked for errors. A Hatnote has been added to distinguish from Artificial evolution (a redirect to Evolutionary algorithm.Worramlaup21 (talk) 11:21, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Date format

[edit]

This article is not associated with a specific English-speaking country but it is associated with a specific French-speaking country (France) and other European countries, all of which use date=dmy in their native languages. So the American convention of date=mdy has been changed and will be changed again if there is an attempt to return to it.Worramlaup21 (talk) 10:17, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
