Zapping (until 2020 Zapping TV), is a Chilean IPTV television provider, being the first of its kind in Latin America,[1] with over 150 channels from third-party companies, as well as in-house channels such as Zapping Music (music videos), Zapping Sports (sporting events) and Zapping Channel (live cameras of several points of Chile).
A Chile-only service at launch, it has since expanded to three other countries.
Zapping Channel
Zapping Channel es una señal de televisión chilena perteneciente a la plataforma Zapping TV. El canal transmite imágenes en vivo de distintas localidades de Chile, alternando con música de diversos géneros. La programación se caracteriza por mostrar escenas en tiempo real de ciudades, paisajes y espacios temáticos, ofreciendo a los televidentes una panorámica dinámica del país.[2]

El canal cuenta con cámaras ubicadas en ciudades como Santiago, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Coquimbo, Antofagasta, Villarrica, Coyhaique, Punta Arenas, Isla Juan Fernández y Rapa Nui, así como transmisiones temáticas:

Las cámaras cambian automáticamente cada ~40 segundos aprox, mostrando distintos lugares y escenas en tiempo real.
Música y diseño de pantalla
Durante la transmisión se reproduce música, y el nombre del tema y su intérprete se muestra en la esquina inferior izquierda. El diseño en pantalla incluye:
Logo del canal en la esquina superior derecha.
Información rotativa en la esquina superior izquierda, que puede contener frases o datos curiosos.
En la parte inferior derecha: reloj, fecha, nombre de la cámara activa y temperatura local cuando corresponde.
Programación y estilo
La señal se centra en ofrecer una experiencia visual dinámica del país, combinando imágenes en tiempo real con música de distintos géneros, proporcionando una ventana constante a la diversidad geográfica y cultural de Chile.
Historia
[edit]The company was created on December 11, 2017,replacing an online radio and TV app named El Telón, which was shut down due to legal issues. The service was initially operational only in Chile.[3]
In October 2022, Zapping acquired the Brazilian company Guigo TV, entering said country and setting up a staff of 15.[4] On August 28, 2023, Zapping announced its launch in Peru; its Twitter and Instagram accounts were created in July that year,[5] and on March 23, 2023, the brand was registered on Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (Indecopi).
In November 2023, it added the Latin American version of Playboy TV.[1] Seven channels from Disney were removed on December 28, 2023 due to a lack of renewing their carriage deals. Eleven channels were added at the same time.[6]
On May 11, 2024, it broadcast the final of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest exclusively to Chile, Peru and Brazil.[7][8] Due to the success of the experiment in 2024, the company repeated the endeavor in 2025 for Chile, this time including the semifinals.[9]
On July 24, 2024, Zapping made its official launch in Ecuador to cover LigaPro (both Serie A and Serie B) within Ecuadorian territory under the Zapping Sports brand, after a commercial agreement with the official rights holder, Xtrim. Besides that, it also offers IPTV packages offered by Xtrim.[10]
Zapping added the Latin American feed of Las Estrellas as well as tlnovelas to Brazil in October, but removed the two channels less than two months later due to rights issues. Two further channels from Televisa Networks, Golden and Telehit, were announced but ultimately never launched.[11]
By April 2025, a number of regional Brazilian ISPs were carrying the service.[12]
