Saghir Tabassum (Punjabi: صغیر تبسم; also transliterated as Ṣag̲h̲īr Tabassum) is a Pakistani Punjabi poet, researcher, and academic writer known for his contribution to contemporary Punjabi literature in Pakistan. His poetry and critical writings explore the cultural, historical, and linguistic aspects of the Punjabi language, particularly focusing on the literary traditions of the Bahawalnagar region.[1][2]

Tabassum is the author of several Punjabi poetry collections and critical works, including Qaidī Sufne (2010), Asān̲ Chup Nahin̲ Vaṭnī Dhartī Te (2021), and Urdū Bolan Vāliye Kuṛiye (2024).[3][4][5] His poetry has been discussed by literary figures such as Anwar Masood and Zafar Iqbal in Urdu and Punjabi literary columns.[6][7]His works have been included in discussions of modern Punjabi poetry in Pakistan and have been cited in academic and media sources, including the Dawn newspaper and the SBS Punjabi podcast (Australia).[8][9] His books have been catalogued by the Library of Congress (U.S.) and other major libraries, confirming their international distribution.[10]In addition to his poetic works, Tabassum has contributed essays and research on Punjabi literary history, emphasizing the cultural connections between the Siraiki and Lehnda Punjabi regions.[11] His books have been launched at various academic forums, including seminars organized by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.[12]
