Clappia is a no-code development platform for application software, which allows users to create mobile and web applications without programming knowledge.[1] The platform uses a drag-and-drop interface combined with workflow automation, data collection tools, and integrations with external systems. Clappia applications are hosted on Amazon Web Services infrastructure and are accessible via web browsers and mobile devices running Android and iOS.[1]

Platform

[edit]

The Clappia platform allows users to create mobile apps using a visual drag-and-drop interface.[1] The platform is available with both free and paid subscription models for organizations with varying requirements.[2] Compared to low-code development platforms which require some programming knowledge, Clappia is a no-code platform designed for business users to build apps without coding skills.[1]

Features

[edit]

Application Builder: A visual interface for creating applications through drag-and-drop components representing data input, conditional logic, and process workflows[1]

Data Collection: Components for capturing text, GPS location data, images, barcodes, NFC tags, and document uploads[3]

Workflow Automation: Configuration of multi-step workflows including email and SMS notifications, approval processes, and data routing[1]

Real-time Analytics: Interactive dashboards for monitoring business processes and automated report generation[1]

Offline Functionality: Support for offline form submission and data synchronization for field operations in areas with limited connectivity[3]

Multi-platform Deployment: Applications generate versions for web, Android, and iOS platforms[1]

History

[edit]

Clappia was founded in 2017 by Ashutosh Kumar and Sarthak Jain, both alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.[4] Kumar previously worked as a Product Manager at Nutanix and Cisco, while Jain brought software development experience from Amazon.[4]

The legal entity operating Clappia is Clapptron Technologies Private Limited, headquartered in Bangalore, India.[5] The company is self-funded and profitable.[5]

In January 2018, Clappia joined the Axilor Ventures accelerator program. The company began generating revenue in February 2018 and achieved profitability in March 2020.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in India, Clappia developed an e-pass application for the nationwide lockdown. The application was delivered within two days and deployed across railway zones in northeastern India.[6]

Technology

[edit]

Clappia employs a serverless architecture using AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Step Functions, Amazon SNS, and Amazon OpenSearch Service.[1] This design enables the platform to handle dynamic application configurations while automatically scaling from minimal usage to over one million submissions per month.[1]

The platform was featured in the AWS Startups Blog in September 2021 as a case study demonstrating serverless architecture best practices for no-code platforms.[1]
